This is the insecure mentality that forces people to go too hard in training that Jakob mentioned in his post race interview. He trains to train, not in fear of that if he can't do certain things in training, he won't do those things on race day. Training and racing are two different things, treat them as such. And race often to see how your training is going (dont rely on training times as the indicator).

He literally said what the rest was in his post race interview with let's run....he said "90" for the first few, obviously 90sec, then he said "increased" for the last two, I get the sense it was most likely 2min rest for the last few reps.
How is this wise to do it 2 days before the race??? I know that he can recover really quickly as seen in his double but come on

In defence of poster, JI is a WR holder, but still the same human physiology. I'd say he broke the WR in spite of more than because of. The session , imo and scientifically too, would have had more of a psychological than physical benefit. The physiological adaptations of stress (training) takes place during rest.
In most races the psychological impact is of greater marginal value than physical.
In fact he said to a podcast made by norwegian tv commentator Jan Post, that he could have run faster than 1.49,5 too, but that was not the point of the workout. He got the speed training he wanted from it obviously.
