She really does. You could tell she eased up a bit but it was still a 63s final lap. I wonder what her strategy is going to be for the next round

Schein-Becker through on time, no real casualties, nice and slow. Now imagine coming back in a while for a 10k.

In the final, Tuohy needs to make sure she has a 2 to 4 second gap going into the final 400m.

Round 2 will be slow again w/ 5000 pending. Touhy will run 4:14ish for a big Q, but we'll see who is in the heat first.

Meanwhile over in naia finals, Wiley runs 2:01 for 3rd leg of 4x8. She finishes tomorrow with 1500 and 800 finals about 3 hours apart. Favored in both, I think she'll run both pretty quick.

Anybody know what is up with the protest in the 1500? Someone earlier said Ramsden tripped someone with 200 to go. What runner was tripped?

Protest complete. I don't see anybody from heat 1 advancing other than the 6 that had already made it. Must have denied the protest.

If they go 1 22 11 22 etc based on 1st round times it could be interesting for heat 2

It looks like it was the girl from Temple that was tripped but she still got an auto spot. May have been checking if someone needed to be DQ'd to see if the West Virginia runner should get an auto spot but decided it wasn't intentional contact

ALL the women's 1500 heats. This guy is on top of it again. He has almost all events already up.

Lipscomb runner Kiara Carter goes down hard at 1:10 in heat one. She was advanced to the finals.

Last year this race was glacial with Chelangat winning in 34:20 and 12th place at 34:36. I'm guessing this will be a bit faster, but I could be wrong, as no one in top6 has any real reason to make it fast and the pack, specifically Howlett, is helped by a slow race. I'll take Chelangat winning in 33:30 w/ Howlett a surprising 12th in 33:55.

Chelangat, Olemomoi, Chmiel, Hays, Vestri, Brown, Quarzo, Mancini, Boogerd, Roark, Millenaar and Howlett...survive and advance.

I don't think that is what they did last year. Do they do the same pattern every year?
