Interesting point about Stanford and the steeple. I think they do a great job of getting a lot of high level guys to go even faster. That being said, they have some really good guys who (I don't know this) might not get to travel. Surely you would expect them to be pretty close to as deep in the steeple as they are in the other mid dist and dist events.

Forgive me if they're super deep in the steeple, but I can't remember that many.

The women's event is obviously still developing, and there are some runners who shouldn't be thrown in there. I have to say , though, that the best steeple form I have ever seen was Kerry Hils of Missouri. A hurdler and cross country runner, she simply hurdled the low women's barriers! Don't think she was that passionate about running in the long term, however, and isn't ont the scene anymore (as far as I know).

the damian kallabis kid ran 809 in the steeple in 99. won european championships, world cup and was fourth at worlds in 99.

everything thanks to UTEP the great miners. any other steeple program in the nation looks cheap against them!

Right, just like all the Ethiopian and Kenyan and, heck, US distance runner hordes that juice up and beat the testing system. Why aren't Croghan, Diemer, Davis, Kennedy, Meb, Webb, etc. considered drug cheats?

Yo, kallabis ran 8:09 AFTER his UTEP days. This thread is about college steeple programs.

No-Kallabis really is/was! That's why Goucher wouldn't train with Damian in Colorado.

So, just what was the drug cheating that occurred? Goucher was just afraid to train with anyone faster, he injected the "cheater" stuff into the story after the fact to make him look tough.

When it comes to Steepling, UT under Stan Huntsman was hard to beat!

According to letsrun article, Damian's own team doc (Graff) admits the HES was used to mask EPO use. Believe what you want. Kallabis paragraph is about midway through article.

Ironically, Goucher is now closer to a major drug cheat (and closer to being one) in his current training setup than he ever was in the past.

Michigan would probably put out a decent list with Diemer, Hiekenen, Meyer, etc. Sorry if I butchered those names.
