Too bad Tesla wasn't a runner, super shoes would be old hat by now.
Have you actually worked out or raced in any of these new spikes? While they are much better for injury prevention, slipping the shoes on don't magically make you faster. The Vaporflys are a different story for the 1/2-marathon.

Championships sort out the best runners
Exactly. These new shoes have rendered times meaningless. Now only competition matters.
So, little Billy just ran a 3:12 mile? Whatever. Wake me when little Billy beats some Africans.

Especially for high school kids.
With PEDs, high school kids were generally immune from speculation. We just assume that a 14-year-old kid is not on EPO.
But these super shoes steal the glory from the kids. A kid pops a fast time, and we automatically assume it's the shoes (and for good reason). But still, it takes away the glory and excitement. Always an asterisk after a new record. It ruins the sport more than drugs ever could.
Super shoes have not ruined the sport.
What is ruining the sport of distance running is a lot of mythology surrounding the existence and power of "PEDs" for distance running.
It has many people believing that great performances are only possible if enhanced by doping.
Hating supershoes is just an extension of the myths that doubt performance.
