Why do Americans get shot so often? A large African American population, a large Republican population and too many guns.

That's 52% of the shootings. What percentage of the population of the U.S. between 1982 and now were Caucasian? Seems to me that's disproportionately low because even now white people are over 60% of the U.S. population.

I already acknowledged I misread the graph, but thanks for pointing that out. I would say though that the source itself doesn't support the point of the poster I was replying to (they attributed the mass shooting problem in the US to its "high black population".)

Absolutely! most Americans of all stripes are for more gun regulation and more want more responsibile gun ownership.

No, I can't. But an AR-15 still requires you to shoot people in the vitals with its small bullet to kill them. In the first paragraph, CopperRunner implies that that's only the case with pistols or hunting rifles.

To be non PC, most mass shootings (when you're talking about the '600 per year' number) have black shooters and black victims. It's just a normal week in Chicago or a normal fortnight in Baltimore.
On the other hand, most actual mass shootings (the truly random ones you hear on the news, typically done with an armalite rifle) are perpetrated by white males. However, this number is only around 52%, which is less than the over 18 white share of the male population as a whole.
