Yes it does. But Astro equates Tuohy to a sprinter in the US who is maybe 10th best American as being equal rather than realiazing that the 10th best sprinter in the US may be 12th in the world while the 10th best distance runner in the US may onl be 50th in the world.

How does any of this take away from her following?

How does the fact that she is the same age as Keely and Athing (multi-medalists) take away from the fact that people love to watch her?

We all know that sometimes the best athlete is not the one who captures our attention. It’s the athlete with personality, drive, passion, or a story of rising back up after defeat/illness/injury etc. whatever it is that grabs out attention.

Not sure why this is so surprising to some of you nor why you pretend to remain so confused by her fan base.

That's crazy even the college/pro track influencer content types only have 30-70k followers. For comparison to how popular Tuohy is on IG, Jenny Simpson only has 96k follower...very marketable if she wins Gold in the future.

How many people watch women's college basketball? How many watch the WNBA? Tuohy's following will disappear after she becomes an average pro.

That is a real record. We are all gald for her. Nobody is sad. The point is that NCAA records are just internal records regardless of who holds them. Do you need tissues?

I guess neither does Ingebrigtsen. Both start their kick in the final K and just squeeze faster successive laps until they’ve thoroughly gapped the field. Does that make her invincible? No, but it’s a very successful tactic.

Aside from that, of course we all (I hope) understand the difference between sprinting and distance events with their dominant nationalities.

Are you insane? He drops a 55 at the end of a 5k while she drops a 70. You are comparing an average high school sprinter who runs 11.8 %to Usain Bolt who runs 9.5.

We heard the same during her freshman year in college. This doomsday scenario seems to fall short at each successive stage of her career.
