Any woman with a sub-3:00 was eligible for the pro field. It was a just a comped entry. She didn’t take anything away from anyone.
Yeah, it feels like this one is a stretch even for the Pappas-haters. She's all dolled up in her best look-at-me garb as usual, and she's got her phone with her to take 100 selfies so she an post the 6 or 7 ones most likely to grab attention on socials, but that's just standard stuff in the Instagram Era. If her PR gets her an elite bib the same as it would for anyone else in the time range specified by the rules, it's not a big deal even if she doesn't go all out in the race.
She's done at least 100 more annoying things than jog with a celebrity wearing a bib that her PR legitimately earns her. She's definitely a clown, but you'd hardly know it from this event.
The sad bit is that I heard she was depressed recently. If there’s one thing that breeds depression, anxiety, and confusion it is heavy social media use. LRC message board is toxic enough… but nothing compared to the world of gross and manipulative Meta products. For her sake, I hope she can extricate herself from social media.
This is her new ‘thing’. Gets accepted into the elite fields, gets comped lodging and some travel assistance (all while a truly deserving athlete gets dropped off the list for assistance) then starts with the elites and run 8min pace while hamming it up.
Sick of her BS.
She contributes nothing to the sport. Her behavior is harmful to young women. Look at her sick IG posts.
1. Her Instagram bio reads "𝕱𝖆𝖘𝖙𝖊𝖘𝖙 𝕲𝖎𝖗𝖑 𝖎𝖓 𝕳𝖔𝖑𝖑𝖞𝖜𝖔𝖔𝖉," which seems unlikely. I am sure plenty of fit women in the area ran under 3:55 in this race alone.
2. The bio also says that she has a new book -- "Young Bravey"?? Between this and her "Bravey" brand wine, of course she needs to self-promote as much as possible. It is her literaly profession.

3. This generation.😆
On "in Hollywood," you do just get the feeling there's a lot of legwork she does behind the scenes to get included in other famous people's lives -- like how many phone calls did she have to make, and how many times did she randomly show up at Hollywood parties, and how much attention-seeking did she have to do, to get on Diplo's radar for this?
You also know what famous friends she does have probably think she's a US Olympian and in elite shape right now, because if you aren't invested in the sport (or any activity/hobby/field) you wouldn't know and wouldn't be bothered to look up that she finagled Greek citizenship to get an easy pass into the Games and then all but immediately retired to focus on her... whatever this is that she does the last seven years. "Randomly Famous Pseudo-Celeb, Junior Grade" is what I'd guess the job title is.

Bro sometimes ppl make friends with other ppl. Your fan fiction version of her stalking diplo and tricking him into becoming friends is beyond moronic. I don’t get why y’all care so much about this random person you seem to dislike - why not pay her no attention if she bothers you so much?
Hmm, so she has an elite bib, but according to one of her Instagram stories she was lined up with Diplo st the beginning. The question becomes: why did the race issue her an elite bib...in what basis did she get it? Did she bump someone else from getting one? Why do races give her these bibs these days?
She's probably super-connected and pulled strings.

It's her life but I am shocked there are sponsors paying her to do this. I guess at least she has more running cred than other influencers like kofuzi, Seth and mattchoi. She is definitely sub 31 10000 in new spikes.

That's my only problem with it. She probably just wanted a comped entry. Meanwhile they probably had a limited elite field and someone was turned down as a result. If you're going to hobby jog pay for a bib like everyone else. Or better yet, use your "influencer" status to have a sponsor pay for your bib. Guess that would be too much work compared to emailing the race director for the elite field though 🙄
Snowflakes and inc3ls, calm down. Alexi didn't deprive anyone from an elite entry. Take a deep breath and Google LAM results. If you did, you find out there were EIGHT elite women finishers. It was a tiny field. Anyone who qualified for an elite bib was given a free entry. Pro and even sub elite American's don't want to waste one of their yearly marathon attempts on a slow course with measly prize money and appearance fees with Boston a month away.

Yeah, I definitely should clarify, her antics get tiresome but I'd take her a million times over any of the ones who are solely famous for their instas and never walked the walk as an elite, even briefly.
Plus, as I've said before, she showed her breasts on camera. Always worth a few points.
She did this in NYC too, after lining up with the elites for max exposure.
Running around in that outfit, mugging for cameras, and taking selfies is simply disrespectful to the people around her who have trained hard and are taking the thing seriously. You know, like SHE used to. She is now a shameless parasite on the body of the thing that gave her whatever notoriety she now enjoys-- competitive running. What she's doing is fine for anyone who never took the sport seriously in the first place. For her, it's deplorable. If you're making that big a deal out of now being out of the sport, stay the f-ck out. All they way out. Find some other way to get attention. Maybe one that requires some actual talent.
This looks a lot like Alexi Pappas Obsession Syndrome (APOS). Its primary symptom is caring at all about what Alexi Pappas is doing while not being her spouse, a family member, or her primary care physician. Whenever you suffer a sudden flare-up, just go outside, take ten deep breaths, and interact kindly with a real person who cares about you--but do NOT talk about Alexi Pappas, as this is likely to aggravate the emotional inflammation.
I don't mean to be patronizing, but seriously. You are really over-invested in this.
Well, thanks for not being patronizing. But, if we're not going to take our own sport seriously, and defend it against grifters like this, even if just rhetorically, in a forum that is a bastion of the sport, then who will?
The only time I ever hear about Alexi Pappas is when someone starts a negative thread about her on here and her "attention seeking behavior". If she does have attention seeking behavior, whatever her tactics are, they are failing as far as I am concerned. N=1, but I doubt I am alone. This means that the only one drawing attention to Alexi Pappas for me (and potentially others) are the people who start threads about her here.
I'm not telling anyone what they should post about on here, whatever floats your boat, but maybe consider how much traffic this web site gets in the running community and if you are the cause, or at least contributor, of your own irritation. You are seeking attention for, and drawing attention to, Alexi Pappas.
I am happy to keep giving her my attention, if you all want me to, just keep up the threads. Oh, and thanks. I don't really know much about her but, it was super cool to see that she ran with Diplo. I would never have known that. I've ran slow marathons with friends to help them out, but my friends aren't famous. She seems like a solid person - I know my friends have been super appreciative when I've helped them run marathons.
