If you actually read the article you would notice that the Tuscaloosa County Superintendent is given ample space to refute the allegation. In fact, if you do a quick word count, 41% of the article is presenting his position. It looks like it is not only teenagers who can't read at a 3rd grade level.

I read a study that covered this - names like Marcus or Jalen / Chidobe or Odafe, would not be passed over in hiring. However, names like "Ja'Marcus" would. The first names mean you come from a normal family and are from a middle class (or above) background, while the last name means your family is probably uneducated.

Also, made-up 'white' names (that I've virtually only seen among whites) are viewed as dumb by most people - for example, "McBrinleigh", "Madisyn", or "Jaxson"

Not "some". They were the source.

Slavery was illegal in virtually the entire north before the country was even formed.

The expansion of slavery was opposed from the beginning.
