What I found interesting looking at the all-time fastest indoor prep 3,000 and 2 miles (if you throw out Mary Cain) is that all of them (top 10 in each) were run in the last few years - like 2019 on - except for Melody Fairchild back in 1991. That is like 19 out of 20 (again excluding Mary Cain). Is it the shoes?
nice change of subject.....but that is not the case for boys is it? My uninformed opinion is more and more girls are taking the sport more serious in hs and training harder than 10+ years ago. Or maybe there are more well paced races on faster tracks like BU? Or more hs girls getting int races with collegians ( like Cook at Stanford)? or maybe a combo of all of these, including shoes?
Then more ‘generational talents’ on the scene, get it?

Not leading? But that is how she runs and wins races, by leading and pushing because she can't kick. If she can't win by leading then good bye title chances for Valbymania!
Runs top 3 all-time 3000m! Olemomoi 8:45 Valby 8:49!
There's 4 four runners in the NCAA that can 8:50 and under in the 3000m.
Olemomoi 8:45
Valby 8:49
McCabe 8:50
Markezich 8:50
Tuohy and Chelangat will run 3000m at Millrose Games tomorrow!
Olemomoi looked so strong in that race, went by Valby and gapped her quick! I think Olemomoi has better kick than Chelangat, I'm not sure why they sent Chelangat to Millrose and not Olemomoi.

Her idol is Katelyn Tuohy by the way 😅
This was a better race for Hilda since she doesnt have that much experience (I do not think). The Millrose 3000 maybe a tough race if the pace is as fast as we think.

She has to play to her strengths of course. Like Stewy McSwain (?) He doesn't have as much of a kick so he tries to wear down his opponents early.
Of course 1500 is different than 3000, but we can't fault Valby for the tactic if she knows it gives her the best shot.

You mean experience in indoor? She was running 5000m in Kenya years ago.
