I might suggest she actually train to run hills better this Fall. Before the race in Stillwater we heard how there are hills in FL and she had trained on them. Then after we hear that she hadn't trained on hills enough. It seemed clear to me she had not focused on how to run hills better. The UVA course has a whole lot of abrupt ups and downs while not as long as OSU there are many and it will require constant stride change on a less perfect running surface.

If it was soccer would it be weird? What if it was the men? Lets not be so insistent that our sport be boring. Valby V Tuohy has made for some spirited discussion and I for one enjoy it. Enjoy it while we have it.
Whiticker and Willis at Stanford are the future stars in 800/1500. Tuohy is likely going to have a successful pro career for an American at least. Valby has the potential to be a successful pro, it will be exciting to see how she progresses and what distance she settles at. She needs to work on her kick off of a fast pace. Wiley, she's a wild card and will need a stable training environment to continue to develop. This is only the tip, there are a lot of talented young women in NCAA distance running.
This may be the most arrogant post ever. Nearly nobody here knew who Valby was a year or two ago. She now finished 2nd in the entire NCAA during XC but an anonymous poster on a website thinks he has suggestions to make her even better? I am especially shocked to have a Tuohy poster make that recommendation because it insinuates that Valby is more talented than Tuohy. Otherwise, how would she have done better than 2nd? And did you ever think that a good coach develops a comprehensive training plan and even one change to it would negatively impact the runner rather than positively impact the runner?

She is qualified in one event as far as I can tell. Tuohy is qualified in two. How many distance runners are qualified on more than one event currently?
