Tuohy is fast and she earned the privilege to get invited because she is a multiple NCAA Champion, owns the fastest collegiate times in 1500m and 5000m. When Alicia Monson was in college, she was also invited to these meets and so did the past NCAA Champions like Weini Kelati, Danae Rivers.
Ray Flyyn negotiated her deal with Adidas, but he doesn't manage her schedule. It's just a coincidence that Ray Flynn is the meet director, she gets automatically invited because she's the NCAA Champ.

What is odd to me is the last minute timing as she was already entered in the Camel City meet the next week, and thenm this pops up. Perhaps the invite to DR Sander was there all along and she had not accepted it pending how training was going, but again it seems a little odd.

From what I can see it is usually Millrose (Kelati, Monson, Jones, Wayment unless TFRRS missed DR Sanders for all of them) Perhaps they had invites and declined, but it does not look like they ran Dr Sanders. Granted Tuohy has both a fast 1500 and 3000 time to her name which something not many do. So she can run different events in these high quality meets.
Not only is Katelyn Tuohy one of the biggest names in our sport, she has proven her dominance in college distance running by winning titles, so why are we acting surprised she's in these high-profile races? She herself is a high-profile runner, the meet benefits from her popularity, she benefits from the high competition, fans benefit from good races!
