FYI, I reached out to Woody Kincaid's agent Dan Lilot about this. Here's what he texted me and Sarah Lorge Butler from Runner's World:
He had a bit of an injury scare this fall, which prompted him to go back home to Colorado to get treatment at the USOPC Center in Colorado Springs. The injury turned out to be minor, and he had a great fall of training. He's been in Flagstaff this month, mostly training with Mike Smith's guys. Things are going well, and he's looking forward to the Terrier 5000 Friday night, as well as at least one more indoor race, and then possibly a few longer races in March. Eventually he will figure out his longer term training/coaching situation. All options are still on the table.
I guess the best way I can put it is that he's taking a bit of a running Rumschpringe, with an eye toward gathering info on what might be the best fit for the remainder of his career, especially with a possible move to the marathon after Paris. Bowerman could very well still end up being the best fit, but I don't believe he'll be competing in the BTC kit on Friday.
FYI for those not familiar with a Rumspringe, it's when an Amish person enters their late teenage years and they're given a chance to experience the real world and live with some loosened restrictions. Then they get to choose if they want to stay in the Amish community or leave it completely.
