Both of my grandfathers are the most famous in their worlds, although my paternal grandfather is slightly more famous in general.
Paternal: Fairly well-known mathematician, who founded a company that is still a leader in its field. There is an annual national prize in mathematics named after him.
Maternal: Colonel in the Marines. Pretty well known amongst other Marines in his era. Buried in Arlington.
My ancestors were brought to this country against their will. After that no birth or death records were kept since we were considered chattel by most Americans. We do have birth records going back to my paternal and maternal grandmothers. That’s about it though. America: what a country.
Your ancestors were slaves before being sent off to the Americas, enslaved by your own people, or enslaved by a nearby tribe of almost the same people, but here you are now, acting as if slavery were something unique to the USA and/or something done to your race by whites or something. You're welcome to go back "home," and spare us the sob stories used to milk the privileges/money out of others here.

On my mothers side I have a bishope in south africa who was excommunicated in the 19th century for not being racist enough for the Church of England at the time.

OK, I'm getting more credit here than I should. A noted genealogist had traced this line. My GG grandfather was not immediately listed because there were so many descendants. But, my GGG grandfather was listed, it was easy to link in.
Also, because this line came from money, records were easier to access. Two of my GX grandfathers were "Lord Mayor of London" back in the 1400-1500s. I think it was more a title given to businessmen dating back to 1189. It only has a one-year term.
This family were fishmongers and have a college named after them. Again, that money and genius did not make it to me to benefit.
I've had a pretty serious genealogy interest since 2010, and like most I went in hoping to find something interesting. I wasn't necessarily thinking a president or Royalty, just "interesting." But alas, as far as I can prove unequivocally, I come from a very modest background.
As a male, I do have special interest in my direct male descendant, and that line I have only been able to get back to 1765 with certainty. All farmers, all served in the wars of the time including the Revolutionary war.
Having done genealogy for 14 years now, I am very suspect of anyone that makes claims over 10 generations or so. I know from experience at that point, you are matching just a last name, maybe a first name, quite possibly with alternate spellings and other leaps of logic. Of course if you are descended from a long line of notable people, then that is easier.
