straighshooter, why don't you make this thread a bit more fun by trying to answer your own question? Just go outside or on a treadmill and try walking at a 12 min/mile pace for half an hour.
If it feels easy, then you can call it walking. If it requires some significant effort or causes discomfort, then that 68 year old man can absolutely call his 12 min miles running. Let us know how it goes and report back.
