Tuohy Clearly Disgusted by Reporter's Comment

Tuohy is not oblivious to talk that both she and Valby have been talked about as dopers. I took her reaction to be toward the reporter's stupid question and that he was insinuating about doping. So many reporters are idiots but many of the people that post here are bigger idiots.

That was amazing. Good on her for making her dissatisfaction so plain. All journalists know the kind of issues that have arisen around the obsession with female bodies, how it can lead to disordered eating and mental health problems. They need to do better. I'm only sorry that one of the coaches didn't also speak up and call out that statement as inappropriate.

Think people are overreacting to this story.

I saw that during the interview, Tuohy said the race was going to be a "dogfight".

As a supporter of PETA, I find this remark as offensive, or more offensive, as "gaining some muscle".

This is the kind of remark that promotes animal violence, and Tuohy, at minimum should be required to issue an apology, or better, be removed from the meet and be forced to do community work at an abused animal shelter.

I was being ironic. I don't think either woman is doping. Tuohy has been cross training and lifting weights since 10th grade. She is poster child for healthy eating and all around fitness in the ladies' running community. Valby hasn't actually put on any muscle; she's most likely lighter now than last spring at NCAA 5k.

Imagine Ahhnold and Mick Jagger at a press conference and reporter asks Mick how he has recently put on muscle.

The "How" questions about Valby's muscle and training seem to have an underlying hint of doping accusation.

So you believe that saying a female runner "looks fit" is a sexually charged remark?

Are you the type of person whose mind instantly associates sex with objects or remarks. When you see a cloud formation, do you think it looks like something sexual?

If you are, perhaps you should seek out counseling or drug therapy and stop projecting your sexual issues on those that do not think like you.

The question was poorly worded. Tuohy handle the reporter perfectly.

This is a terrible take. In sports the participants are interviewed and the loser is sometimes as big a story as the winner. There is a reason they put reporters in the losing team's locker room. There are reasons Brady, Ronaldo, Messi, and LeBron get a lot of focus when they lose as well as win. At the NCAA level with Alabama or Georgia or Ohio State lose they get a lot of coverage. Look at the amount of negative coverage Michigan football has received over the past decade.

If women want to be considered serious athletes they have to field the same media onslaught that men get.

I agree that the question isnt a big deal, but Zion’s not a great example. He’s been pretty vocal and outspoken lately criticizing fans who speculate about his weight

It is not objectifying. Tuohy obviously has put on a lot of muscle the past two years. Its a fact . Saying your bikini photos on instagram are awesome is objectifying
