I doubt he is the worst, he's just very high profile, but whether he's good or bad depends on how you judge him.
I don't judge CEOs merely on the valuation of their company. I judge them on how they treat their employees and if their employees have good work-life balance. If the soft skills of being a compassionate leader aren't there no matter how good your company does you'll never be a good CEO.
Lol you're probably posting this from a device created from a company that had what you would consider to be a bad CEO, like Steve Jobs or Bill Gates. Fact of the matter is sometimes a CEO pushing for bad work-life balance is what is required to get results. Elon doesn't seem very inspirational though, so he probably can't get that kind of drive out of his employees.
Uh, no. I'm in a C-level leadership position but not CEO. I want happy employees that feel valued and not burned out. For the occasional big project they may work more hours but I want them to take all of their PTO, stay at home when they're sick or their kids are sick, and have a healthy life outside of work.
Not sure how this will all pan out, but in times where jobs are aplenty, it is foolish to ask employees to burn the midnight oil. Most of them who now won't might have done that for a while for another CEO, but he's got all of them mad at him for the big layoff, so, as should have been expected, many of them just flat out quit.
There is no disputing that he's been a success so far, and I'm not one of those liberals who just diminishes all he's done just because he's a right-wing nutbag. He's obviously a talented and gifted individual. That said, SO FAR, it doesn't look like he knows what he's doing at all with this Twitter acquisition.
I am neither rooting for it to fail or succeed, though I did not want to be a part of it, so I did cancel my Twitter account...which I wasn't really using much anyway.
Will be interesting to see how this all pans out.
A lot are quitting you say? Wow. What an opportunity. I’d love to go with for the history’s greatest technical entrepreneur and CEO. Wish I was 30 years younger.
You would want to work 12-15 hours a day for Elon Musk? Not me, brother. Never would I have done that.
Whether he's the greatest CEO is certainly up for debate. I'd say he's in the running for the worst.

It's fun to see all the liberals getting triggered because he purchased Twitter. You probably threatened to move out of the US when Trump became president too. Suck it up buttercup.
Triggered? Hardly. He's a bad guy, so I decided not to participate in the thing he just greatly overpaid for. I also don't shop at Hobby Lobby, but I'm not "triggered" by Hobby Lobby...they (the owner) just have some backwards opinions that I don't want to support.
And, nope, I didn't threaten to move out of the US when Trump became President. What a stupid assumption. I will never move from the United States, because I do believe, even with all of its faults, that it is the greatest country in the world.
I'll say this for you...you have a wild imagination.

Yep. You're triggered. Your post demonstrates how triggered you are.
Thank God Musk wasn't born in the USA or Republicans would be nominating him soon.
That did not stop Canada-born Ted Cruz from running. He claimed his mom being born in the U.S. was enough, and that her becoming a Canadian citizen when she was young made no difference.
This is nothing new for musk, i dont know why people are surprised. Has everybody forgotten the thai cave rescue debacle where a.) He made a not fit for purpose submarine and b.) Called the actual rescuer a paedophile just because he was a middle aged western man living in thailand (that was his actual reasoning, maybe not word for word but close enough).
How can you be so stupid to hugely overpay for a company without doing due diligence and then run it into the ground within weeks. Even a bang average solicitor could have handled this better for a few thousand £$€... isn't this guy the richest man in the world? Surely he hasnt bought it just to intentionally bankrupt it because he sold a bunch of tesla stocks to buy it.
He should stick to tesla, seems like his forte.
This. He built Tesla and his other companies from the ground up. He created them in his image and put his people in key roles. With Twitter he takes over a company with 1000's of employees with a deeply ingrained culture and relying on a revenue source (advertising) that he disdains.
Building a company from scratch and taking over an existing company require different skill sets. There was no reason for him to come in and try and make wholesale changes immediately. He had no deadline or timeline. He could have spent some time learning the business, understanding who the key decision makers/personnel were and started implementing changes more gradually.
I think his ego just got in the way and he bit off more than he can digest. But if Twitter goes down and he loses money it's not a big deal for him. He will still be one of the wealthiest people in the world. A more interesting question is what will replace Twitter. It is relied on by heads of state, politicians, journalists, celebrities, influencers, etc. They are the main users of the platform. Sure, there is Instagram, TikTok, FB, etc., but it's a much more fragmented landscape. It will be fascinating to see how it plays out.

Difficult for Musk though. He was born in Pretoria to Canadian parents and was schooled there.

He has British and Pennsylvania Dutch ancestry.
His mother was born in Africa while her parents were traveling there. Her parents were "Winnifred Josephine "Wyn" (Fletcher) and Dr. Joshua Norman Haldeman, a chiropractor and amateur archaeologist." (per wikipedia)
His maternal grandfather (an archeologist) was born in Minnesota. His paternal grandmother was born in Canada.
His mother had right to be an American citizen via his American grandfather. That is basically the claim Ted Cruz made. Musk could claim he was entitled to become an American via his grandfather and his mother failing to pick the right country of citizenship (mother vs. father).
He will turn things around with Twitter. When he invented Tesla it was laughed at by Jeremy Clarkson and Tesla failed to sue Clarkson, and it almost collapsed, but Musk redeemed the fukk out of himself. Is was like a Bekele comeback. Maybe the twitter comeback will coincide with Bekele's WR next year. I'm surprised Trump doesn't buy twitter so he can post again and say what he wants. Will Musk unban Trump. Discus
Maybe because Trump doesn't have even 5% of the money that would be required to buy it.

You judge on some very ridiculous metrics.
If a CEO isn't "nice" or you think the work-life balance is a problem....then you leave. Treatment is a non issue.
If you take it too far, too many quality employees leave and your company fails and you are punished for being a bad CEO.
INCORRECT!
All companies are human enterprises. As such, they should be judged based on their impact on human beings. High on such a list of humans would be the employees of the company.
CEO's can and do have an enormous impact on the lives of their employees and their families. To discount this and judge a CEO solely on the basis of the stock returns of their organizations is ant-minded.
seems a bit disrespectful to ants, the ant has the largest brain of all insects, and some argue it has the largest brain relative to size in the entire animal kingdom.

He's yet to catch up with Elisabeth Holmes. There's still time.
