Choi was a WR at Monmouth, still pretty neat. My Brownies could have used him a few years ago in the slot. :)

But I agree with you on these instafluencers getting rich off of people who don't know otherwise.

Him and Kofuzi aren't too bad though as some of the others out there.

Everyone hates on SJD rightfully BUT to his credit SJD at least is a 2:20-low runner and very fast.

Why are you guys making up stuff? Where are you guys reading that he is charging $1000 for his training programs?

This kind of person can get suckers to give up their money, no matter what their selling.

He's not an expert in running. Just slightly more knowledgeable than the average gym rat, but he has the charisma of a cheerleader and can SELL SELL SELL!!!!!

The fact he used someone elses bib for I believe Houston marathon, runs a boston qualifier and then claimed he didnt realize you cant use someone elses race number but claims to be a marathon coach or some crap is ridiculous and then last week he posted about running with a football or basketball and throwing it up to yourself to make a run go by faster....like seriously?

. . . and SJD is a two-time Pikes Peak Marathon Champ (with competitive winning times). As even Sage will acknowledge, SJD is an elite high altitude uphill runner. He should likely be at least a couple minutes faster than his marathon PR.

My take is thst SJD is selling motivation ("turn that doorknob") and not training plans/advice (unlike Choi). The SJD haters are presumably not people that wake up at 4 A.M.

Yep. Seth Demoor is an annoying yapping little chihuahua, but at least Seth belongs to the world of running. Seth IS one of us. Matt Choi is an interloper. just popping in to make a buck.

Whether it's Matt Choi or LaToya Shauntay or Dylan Mulvaney, these attention addicted influencers who take up way to much space and leave no room for others are a scourge.

They all act like they are doing some kind of wild service to the world and if they aren't there everything will fall apart, but in reality all they are doing is taking from others; their time, their money, their attention. They offer nothing; no inspiration, no expertise, but they feel entitled to earn a living off of it, and there are enough gullible people to give them that money.

I hate influencers. with a passion. I can't believe people follow these idiots.

Running and influencing are discussed in detail at the 29:00 mark and beyond. His usage of "what happened to me" at others writing stories "whether it was true or not" leads me to believe he feels he's the victim in the Houston marathon bib incident.

It was definitively proven he ran with another person's bib, hence the DQ. Did someone force him to run with another person's bib?

Also found his views on the running community at 33:00 and further telling. Disheartened to learn Jack Murray, the Austin marathon RD, supported his Austin marathon content endeavor. No beef if Murray would've had him run separately from the main field so his cyclists wouldn't disrupt others, but that wasn't the case. It appears taking away with other paying runners' raceday experience in favor of an influencer is okay for that RD.

So Matt Choi got a guide place for NY marathon… check out the egomaniacs photos. He wasn’t helping anyone. NYRR shouldn’t be indulging narcissists.
