Cook is built like a world class runner. Her HS PR s are faster than Tuohy's. Tuohy doesn't have the physique of a world class runner.
the thing about katelyn is that she has muscles and fats, like a normal 20 year old, meanwhile natalie cook is all muscle and bones, and i dont want to comment why is she like that ...
katelyn is developing like a normal athlete but with stronger base... look at cranny, shes doing just fine with all her muscles.
If her built was ever a problem then she would not been able to run 15:14 on her own. What is making Tuohy look big is her excess baby fats. Compare FR Tuohy and SO Tuohy and you can see that she is gradually losing her baby fats, and will continue to do so as she matures, but what will remain is the power that she has developed in the early years by training.
If you read the meet info you will see only 8 runners per team can run in blue race
i dont see other nc state runners on the other race list

Teams assigned to the Blue or Gold Division may compete additional 7 runners per gender in the Open Division race. Teams assigned to the Open Division may compete 15 runners in the race.
The genius of Tuohy is she put in time at the gym. Claudia Lane and Jenna Hutchins did not so they weren't ready for the transformative years. Cook might stay thin because she was raised by pro runner parents so calorie restriction is probably second nature to her.
I am sure they can declare which 8 to run in the Blue race Thursday or maybe even Friday morning. That is how these things work. They have to limit the field size as the start area is not that big and the course quickly narrows.
i wonder if nc state will reveal their national line up by lining up their best 8 runners or would they hide it and put the other top runners on the gold race!!????

tuohy isnt as thin as other distance runners because she developed as a normal teenager and is developing like a normal 20 year old girl without an eating disorder ... dont take this offensively... so many teens and young women who run track and xc suffer from ED because of the of the stereotype that only thin runners run fast. The very same reason why the sport LOST MARY CAIN. from that very same mentality.
Tuohy and Cain are built different than most distance runners yet both are the most prolific young distance runners America has ever seen.

If Tuohy, Bush, Starliper, Seymour or Chmiel run it will be in Blue. No Open for them. I would not count on seeing Chmiel run Friday.

You're right about Chmiel but I'm kinda scared, coz theres a really really big chance we might also not see Katelyn this friday!
The type of lean muscular physique you are talking about is based on peds. The so-called elite distance runners take chemicals to develop lean muscularity while shedding fat. It is always an obvious tell. To be a successful pro runner requires losing ones ethics. That said you see runners like Cranny, Monson. Heck Gidey typically runs around the 110-15 range. Or you have Decker from years back.
Cain is the most humble and sweet runner ever. Tuohy is all about herself. It is why Cain is doing things to help people while Tuohy is running well.
im sorry but idk what cain is doing right now, but i think tuohy is helping the sport more than any other young female distance runner out there, by setting as an example and by being a great inspiration to everyone~ she has done an excellent job at promoting the sport since her sophomore year in high school

its actually amazing that american distance running has an athlete like katelyn tuohy, she pulls so much attention, and fan engagement that usually dont happen in distance running
sprinters always gets the most attention, but if you go to youtube and search for the recent ncaa championship videos, it is katelyn tuohy who has the most views .. her 2022 outdoor 5000m race videos alone reached up to almost 2 million views, more than any sprinting event and even more than any team sport championship, or any other video the ncaa has posted in this year
I think this is right, except I don’t think we will see Chmiel in any of the races. I think Quarzo will be the 8th at this race. NC State does not play games, they will not hide anyone. If Chmiel does not run it will be because Henes is being cautious or she is not ready to race yet….. but for no other reason. We will see the strongest lineup they have right now based on health. And hopefully after Tuohy goes sub 16:00 and beats Mercy this Friday, all this Cook talks slows down. She ran great, but it’s one race. Everyone thought Brynn Brown was the next great thing after HS and won her first college CC race and was not even in the top 40 last year.
