Iten- when I was there this past April and May 2022, I estimated that there were around 2000 to 3000 athletes (for those with more knowledge please don't hesitate to correct me if I err in my estimation) training regularly on the dirt roads there with all of them or most of them aspiring to get a ticket to race overseas but in all honesty only a fraction of those training full-time like that would have their dreams come true. Sad. Most of these guys are putting almost all their eggs into one basket but perhaps they don't have many other choices.

In Kenya none of the athletes start their career before they,'re around 16 or 17 years old so there is no danger absolutely no danger of 14 year olds taking a shady product. I went to Ethiopia 2009 (Addis Ababa and Assella) and I didn't see any tell tale signs of youth runners doing anything suspicious either. I think there's a natural tendency in the west to think that things are more negative than they actually are in some of these developing Nations.
