I feel the fundamental policy of the moderation on this site is to keep the clicks coming. As a result a lot of troll posts, whether it be; race baiting, political baiting, conspiracy theory promoting, COVID denial or all Africans are dopers, are allowed to stand as they will definitely get responses. Ideally they will generate a back and forth battle where the participants go over the same ground ad nauseam (Armstronglvs and Rekrunner for example). Lots of posts, lots of clicks, lots of eyeballs - great for advertising revenue.
Conversely, if a thread gets too many considered opinions rather than troll posts it will get deleted. A classic example was a thread about Trump cancelling the Iran Nuclear Deal. It started off with the usual troll posts. But then several posters pointed out the advantages of the deal to the West and how Iran had benefited from it much to the annoyance of the Saudis and the Israelis. The trolls responded with the usual - If you love Iran so much why don't you go and live there - type posts. But they soon lost interest. Once the trolls disappeared, the thread disappeared.
It's clicks, not content that matter. If someone started a thread titled "How fast could a three legged man run a mile?" it would generate 100 posts within 24 hours. 150 if there was a spelling mistake in the title. It would definitely stay up as it also has the potential to generate parallel threads based on various distances, various genders including trans, DSD etc., and eventually, various animals.
If someone else started a thread titled "Why don't Conservatives like Keynesian economics?" it would be deleted within a few hours if no trolls had jumped on it.
