Here is a timeline of objections to gay people from Deno and those who think like him:
1990s: "Gay men should never be school teachers. Nobody wants to send their kids to be taught by a pervert." Gay teachers come out and continue to excel as educators.
2000s: "Gay men should not openly serve in our military. It could hurt morale!" Don't Act Don't Tell is suspended in 2011 and the military is fine a decade later.
2010: "Nobody would ever want to work for a gay boss. They would probably sexually harass their employees! That's why an out gay man will never be a CEO of a major company." Tim Cook is named CEO of Apple in 2011, and the company thrives under his leadership.
1990s-2015: "If gay couples are allowed to marry, it will destroy the institution of marriage!" Gay couples in the US are allowed to marry starting in 2015, and the institution of marriage remains intact today.
2010s: "A gay man will never be elected to a high-level public office position. Nobody wants their government in the hands of a homo." Jared Polis is elected governor of Colorado in 2018.
2019: "Fine, a gay man got elected as governor, but nobody will ever consider a gay man to be president!" In 2020, Pete Buttigieg wins the Iowa caucuses and finishes a close second in New Hampshire primary.
2021: "You will never see an openly gay player in the NFL. The league is too macho. It will never be tolerated!" Carl Nassib comes out, is supported by coaches and teammates, and he helps the Raiders make the playoffs.
It's funny to see the goal posts continually moved after their objections/predictions are disproved. Now it's a gay football coach who supposedly couldn't be successful! What's next, gay astronaut?
