and now do tempos at what was my easy pace in high school. The slowing really started in my late 30s. It's usually been gradual, gradual, gradual, then every 3-5 years a more sudden decline, then that mostly holds until the next big fall off.
^This.
Fist big decline was in my late 30s. Suddenly my recovery started to decline rapidly. The notes in my training diary suddenly says "tired" after most runs. Then it stayed like that until i was 42 when I had undiagnosted Lyme disease for 9 months until the doctor found out why it was impossible to exercise. After that it went really bad. My 10k races suddenly was 4-5 minutes slower.
Now at age 53 training is a disaster. Constant aches everywhere etc.
I guess my body is worn down. I´ve been doing competitive sport since the age of 10, and had manuals jobs since I was 19.
