It's about time our best kids are focusing on world stuff instead of these domestic meets. Like Jakob said in his interview after the sound running meet when asked about the NP boys.. If you are having that degree of success at that age you've got to to start thinking bigger picture. No one cares about Footlocker, or even NCAAs. It would have been awesome to see Lex, Leo, Collin, Martin, etc at World U20s track this month in Colombia.. but oh well.

What are you talking about? Lots of people care about Footlocker/Eastbay and NCAAs.
Yes, plenty of people domestically who follow HS and College running care a lot about those races. However, those races are irrelevant on the Global stage and if you have Global aspirations (eventually running in the Olympics, DL, etc.) then the perspective is go challenge yourself against similar world class competition.

They may be the fastest juniors ever in Cali at 4:00/7:57ish and 2-3 at Runninglane xc, part of the best xc team at the U.S. high school level ever, so there's reason for the attention.

So someone running a 15:01 time trial has the same odds of placing well in said trials as someone who runs a 14 flat or a 20:36? The kid is asking, based upon his current fitness, whether he would have a chance to make it on the team, not if his current time trial is going to auto-qualify him a spot.
Cross country is the great leveler. Now even more so. It is really the only true running left. If this kid is a mudder and Lex and Luther are not, on a sloppy course time is immaterial. Look at Footlocker as an example of a technical course where barely anyone goes sub 15.
Making a Worlds cross country team is based on your placing (top 6), not on some track qualifier.

Gay….. Straight……Bi……. I could seriously care less if your brother is Gay. It is completely irrelevant. He’s an awesome runner and a super nice person and I hope he continues to improve. But who he’s personally attracted to gender wise is his own private business and none of my concern one way or the other - it is a non-issue and never should be questioned or mocked - ever! A lot of great athletes out there have same sex partners - who cares - fine by me! So I remain a fan of his hard fought efforts and solid times and hope he continues to destroy the competition!

I was at Aarhus and the course was brutal. There are a few things you all should know about Bathust wxc 2023. The course will be difficult with 500-600ft of climbing.Aarhus was over 1000ft with 4x200m hill at 10% in u20 race. The entire course is up or down with virtually no place for rhythm. This will also be run in 80% weather.
I will be there and prepare your athletes well. Good luck.

Hopefully Vin knows the WC course and mimics it in Richmond. Should be fun. Trying to qualify for World XC was also a highlight of my career.

You took that quote out of context. Yes, people do care about FL & NCAAs but when you are running 13;40 at age 17 and the most you accomplish is a FL or NCAA title then it's not that big of a deal. My point was they need to be thinking bigger picture.

Yes, they are competing for a World XC U20 spots in Virginia next month. Told me they want to bump up their milage closer to 70-miles per week and make their workouts longer to prepare for the jump up to the 8k distance. Not sure who else will be in the race with them.
