One poster not responding to me stated Se.A.L.s are too redundant. Said poster mentioned an Army special forces unit. That wouldn't work. Would the Army allow a specific number of their special forces personnel to be assigned to a Navy base or out to see with Navy? No. U.S. military got along just fine prior to circa 1962 when frogmen went on land, 1775 to 1962, USN relied on Marines for ground warfare. Se.A.L.s, just pure unnecessary hype. USN no longer gets into battleship on battleship fights, last one Sea of Japan, 1945. USN needed someone to brag about. If anyone on this thread is trying to differ with me and you're not a Marine, you are wrong. Marines who know their history know of Se.A.L. encroachment. Se.A.L.s have been stealing missions from Marines since circa 1962.
A poster responded to me stating I don't know special forces missions. Light infantry. Don't make special forces on the ground overly complicated.
Readers of this site, top Navy brass, Se.A.L.s who would be back to swabbing the deck and painting broad side of ships as boatswain's mates if I get my way, Se.A.L.s would be done. Not one mission going back to circa 1962 when Se.A.L.s were formed that USMC could not do.
A goofy poster talked about Se.A.L. training and stated Marines couldn't do it. Se.A.L.s chose to attend one of the easiest basic training programs. I don't want to read how tough they are. There are plenty of 1st class swimmers in USMC. I was one of them. Marines, as all of you will not know unless you are a Marine or Navy top brass, put together All-Star Platoons on moments notice. A pilot was shot down, Scott F. O'Grady during Yugoslav Conflict during W. Clinton Administration. Was Officer O'Grady rescued by Air Force Search & Rescue? Was Officer O'Grady rescued by any Army special forces? You know Air Force was spawned from U.S. Army. Did any Se.A.L.s rescue Officer O'Grady? No. An All-Star Platoon of Marines were quickly formed. Mission successful. Se.A.L.s have to have a dozen meetings. A mock city needs to be built for Se.A.L.s. Se.A.L.s need to rehearse twelve dozen times before they can get to breakfast in the morning.
Many of you think you are being patriotic U.S. citizens supporting Se.A.L.s. U.S.M.C. will never go away. The R.O.I. for USMC Infantry is Off the Chart. No one are braver than Marines. I was in a bar/restaurant in Billings Montana about 13 or 14 years ago. A commercial airline pilot who was also an Air Force F-16 pilot told me Marines are THE BRAVEST fighting men in US military. Combined Arms Operations mean Navy pilots sometime fly cover for Army Soldiers and Air Force pilots sometime fly cover for Marines. He told me ONLY MARINES don't wait for back up &/or air support. Se.A.L.s are unnecessary and are causing Marines to die unnecessarily by taking resources from USMC. If you gals & guys consider yourselves patriots, call your US Congressperson today and ask to do away with Se.A.L.s in order for USMC to get modern gear & weapons.
