Ghost and L`innoculateur are people who seem to despise France. There is a lot of racism in France, with the far right scoring 43% in the last presidential elections. I've myself encountered racism. However, I think track and field is one of the few places where it is nearly absent in France.
Hugo Hay was a top 5 contender. He finished just behind Crippa in the European cup one year ago and missed the World Championships due to stupid regulations from the French Federation (he ran the WA standard but the FFA asked for a faster time and did not allow athletes to qualify with the ranking). He beat Jimmy Gressier over 5000m last year during the NCs. He also trains with Isaac Kimeli and the new marathon EC. He was injured multiple times this season, but he is a potential 13-flat runner.
Katir's move was at best stupid . He wanted to get the inside lane before the curve. Hay and some other French athletes are known to be quite suspicious about some athletes' progression, for example, Katir, on social media. Athletes sometimes cross each others paths or have a look at what others can post, maybe there was some hatred between them. In his interview, he also said that this fall symbolised his crappy season.
About his post on Instagram, Hay is ironic and is obviously referring to being pushed when saying he will do more bench press. (not just weight training generally as Ghost translated).
I've sometimes enjoyed Ghost's posts as they are content about European athletes, but quite often they are misleading (cf . about Julien Wanders, Renato Canova had to react), and he has a significant bias favouring the North African community, which is not a problem, everyone has biases.
I think there is a need for clear rules about physical moves during races, a few weeks ago Frenchman Benjamin Robert won an 800 in a disputable way, pushing opponents in the final straight. He was even DQed for a brief amount of time. The same goes about Chelimo's special move on the final straigths.
