Some guys no matter how fast they are just aren't anchor material.
Coleman in 2017 got run down by Britain's Mitchell Blake of all people.Bracy has a quick getaway in the 100 but just isn't anchor caliber. You need someone that can really turnover like a Jim Hines or Bob Hayes.Lyles should have been running anchor.

You are crazy. Lyles got beat by a NOBODY in Blake. You think he beats De Grasse on the final leg???????? Not a chance.
Lyles is the best we got, should have been on anchor.Yes you are a moron.
Finally someoe who knows the 4x1.
What nation can do what the USA did missing their fastest sprinter in Kerley and third fastest in Bromell? With those two we win.
Lyles ran a solid leg the mess up was Hall to Bracy.
Bromeliad doesn’t go to relay camp then he shouldn’t be on the team. You but it your strength runner in the second leg, which is where Lyles belonged. Coleman ran well and Lyles got out slow. He messed it up. If Kerley was healthy he has to be your anchor because he can’t run curves and I would not trust him with two handoffs.
So you expect Coleman, Hall, and Bracy needed to have a perfect race in order to make up for the fact that Lyles botched his handoff with Coleman and then proceeded to get his @$$ kicked by Jerome Blake?? Lyles took off running and forgot to put his hand back for the baton.
Lyles was the one talking trash before the race, guaranteeing victory if he's on it. You expect Coleman, Hall and Bracy to bail him out for getting DOMINATED by a 10.00/20.04 runner??
If you knew anything about the 4x1, you'd know what mistakes get made under pressure. Hall-Bracy felt the pressure because Coleman and Lyles should have given them a massive lead and they didn't.
Two of the three USA 4x100 relay handoffs were terrible. Remember the goal is to keep the baton moving through the zone as fast as possible. The first handoff between Coleman and Lyles did not do that. The baton slowed down because Lyles did not execute his portion of the exchange properly. The next exchange, the second one was a good exchange. The baton moved through that zone well. The last exchange was terrible. Hall was reaching and missing Bracey's hand. Once again the baton slowed because of the poor exchange. Surviving one bad exchange is unlikely. Surviving two is impossible!
Deno, I'm shocked that someone who purports to be such an expert on sprinting can not see how Lyles screwed up. Did Coleman run right up on him? Yes. Did Lyles get out quickly? No. He might have run quickly after he got the baton but the stick needs to be moving quickly the whole time. Coleman did his job, Lyles didnt do his job.
Lyles ran .08 SLOWER than Canada on the 2nd leg and had a really bad 2.02 exchange with Coleman.
USA only lost by .07.
Lyles got beat by .08 to *Jerome Blake*
Jerome Blake has only run 10.00 and 20.04. Lyles has run almost a second faster over 200m than Blake and HE LOSES TO BLAKE.
We knew De Grasse is one of the best ever and we needed to give Bracy a big lead. Lyles blew it.
Bracy was the silver medalist during these Champs. And De Grasse didn’t even make the Finals. Why does the 2nd fastest man in the world need a ‘big lead’?
I understand De Grasse’s history and the difference between relays and open 100m, but c’mon.

De Grasse is a 6 time Olympic Medalist, reigning Olympic 200m champion and one of the fastest 200m runners of all time (#9 on the all time list). What did Lyles place in the 2020 Olympic 200m???? Oh yeah, that's right, De Grasse DESTROYED him.
Bracy, on the other hand, is good at the 100m because he's a quick starter not because his top end speed.
De Grasse has been dealing with injuries and wasn't sharp enough with his start to factor into the 100m.

Sure 2021 Tokyo is irrelevant the year is 2022 and you have a peaked 19.32 Lyles who would run DeGrasse down easily on anchor while skipping the last 5m. What exactly has DeGrasse done this year at 100 OR 200, again?
