When I first saw Hoare at the Champs, I thought he looked fried. Dark patches under his eyes, tired looking. It felt a little judgmental to say that, but I definitely felt like he looked off. I looked at older photos of him, and maybe that's just his complexion, but I had the same initial impression as you. But I'm a big fan; was bummed he didn't do better.

Parsons ran a good semi final. But don't forget he wouldn't have been at World's if he wasn't running for a country with minimal competition that he doesn't live in.

Funny how during the DL everyone on here was praising Ritz and OAC for racing as much as they do, while slagging Jerry and BTC for “ducking competition”.

At each and every major champs, BTC peak at the right time.

I thought the same. Looked like not getting enough sleep or overtrained. Looked very gaunt. He is usually very thin but looked ill. Rumors OAC are on thyroid hormone. Maybe too much of that.

Seems extreme. Hoare is the only true underperformer here. The 5000 is stacked. Good people did not make the final. Beamish is young.

Hoare also ran 3:47 this year, so I am willing to give him one bad performance before lambasting him or his coach. Anyone who has ever run competitively knows that some days when you think you have it and have peaked the same way you always do, you just don’t.

ON running shoes absolutely suck. Not one.. ONE decent pair.

The spike seems to be competitive, judging by performances. Obiri took 2nd in the 10k, Garcia 4th in the 1500, Klecker and Monson ran about what they should have run, and Hoare has ran well earlier in the year. Their road shoes are utter gash

Obviously not a great WC for Jack but context to the 10k is important. He ran 1:09 slower than his PB, a third of the field ran 1 minute or slower than their PB's too. 14/24 were 45 seconds or slower.
In hot conditions this is kind of to be expected.

And Stewy is still on the comeback post the Covid things right? I don't think many people were expecting much there.
