Winter Olympics medals actually often use crystal as part of the medal - I think the trend started with Albertville. Which brings us to the most beautiful athletic medals ever created: Sochi 2014.

I like them but I hope they have a good weight to them. Otherwise, it does seem cheap, like 3D printing. The ribbons could be better. White seems generic and it would look more striking if the white part of the medal was the lightest part.

Those are the ugliest medals in IAAF history. They look like they were purposely made to look like sh*t.

Yeah sorry I meant for athletics - summer Olympics, world championships (athletics), CWG, Europeans etc. I can't think of any that had other substances than metal. There doesn't mean there aren't though. I like the Winter Olympic medals, the glass in them works beautifully. And as I said I actually really like the design of the Eugene medals, it's great, it is just the white contrast that I don't like. If that part had been a mottled brown/black it might work differently.
