You're not wrong, Stephen Mokoka beat the world record by almost 2 minutes on his first attempt a couple months ago and his PRs are "only" 2:07:40 and 59:36. No doubt a sub-2:05 guy could wipe another couple minutes off relatively easily.
But road 50ks are pretty rare events compared to trail races so it makes sense that competition is thin.

Yeah. Men's SP is noncompetitive, but it's not weak at all. Kovacs and Welsh both have excellent marks. They are still more than 1/2 meter behind Crouser.
