Is this a joke? This is the best you got? At least you posted something, I guess. Compare your song to what I posted and tell me w/a straight face your song is superior lyrically, better storytelling, better sound production, etc. Your song had subpar lyrics, beat/instruments were decent, video was garbage. If this is your standard, then we'll never agree. I would understand if were talking about Migos or Lil Pump, but Kendrick's work will be talked about and studied for decades.
Song is garbage. 1. He is just another rapper talking about the hood so nothing new there. 2 He throws slurs around when he can’t figure out his next line so also nothing new there. 3. He isn’t singing - he’s just talking which is a sign he has no talent. 4. talking about taking wrong turns and wheel alignments is dumb. Need I go on?
Go listen to some real music from an actual genre.

Spoken like a true musical rookie. dude, you really think that ....N....this...N...that, works with most people? Grow up guy that crap is for kids and I;m no kid, ok rookie?

What? So, if a song doesn't have singing, then it's not a song? Or it's a sign the artist has no talent? Wow, what a limited world you live in. Elzio Dennick posted what he apparently thinks is "good music." Care to post what you consider "real music from an actual genre?"

So what do you listen to?
Mostly metal (not that Metallica or cannibal corpse crap though). Classic rock, older pop (like Michael Jackson) and every now and then Ray Charles even though I’m not a fan of that style of music his voice is just too good to ignore.
Hip hop and rap are just garbage. Most of the “artists” can’t play a lick of music themselves which takes something away from the listening experience.
The original was first recorded in 1941 by Big Joe Williams a Delta player who moved to St.Louis by 41. The Doors do a great cover as does John Lee Hooker.

Talking isn’t music. Don’t go comparing Kendrick with Mozart though. If you can’t objectively say the latter is more complex and soulful then we are done here. Darkthrone and CCR are the top two in my listening rotation right now. Both are infinitely more talented and worthy of listening time than Kendrick “imma rap about the ghetto” lamar

Idk what "works with most people" even means. Was the N word that only thing you could hear and couldn't get past that? If it was, that's a shame bc there tons of great lyricism packed into OP's song and the one I posted as well.

Sorry my man but that simply sucked, ok? If you can;t see that maybe music ain't your thing, but it is mine and I know crap when I hear it, that is crap.

I already gave one example of just nonsense lyrics from the song the OP posted. The use of a metaphor doesn’t mean it was a great line.
1) The music in the background is fine, and of course that's from Marvin Gaye. The rest of it is crap.
2) Not fond of ANYONE using the N word, so immediately I hate it when I hear that. Time for that to go the way of the dodo.
3) I recognize that rapping is a skill, but it's a skill I don't really appreciate, and I don't consider it "music", so this isn't a "song" in my opinion. It's a different thing altogether...spoken word, poetry, whatever, but it's not music. Yes there is music in the background, but sometimes comedians and magicians use music in the background, and what they are doing isn't considered "music."
You sound foolish and close-minded. Most of the people who would agree with your sentiment above are Trumpers; think about the company you're keeping on that one.
It has a beat. It has a chord progression. It has lyrics. So how is that not music? If "music" requires a melody that is sung, then you must not consider Foxey Lady by Jimi Hendrix to be music, either. Miss You, by the Stones? Not music! All instrumental music? Not actually music, according to Flagpole!
There are rap/hiphop artists who are great musicians and there are many great musicians outside the rap/hip hop genre who have nonetheless been strongly influenced by it. A bunch of most innovative guitarists on the scene right now are hip-hop lovers. Saying it's not music is flat-out dumb.
And, w/r/t the lyrics, you're getting all bent out of shape over one naughty word, despite the overall content being infinitely deeper than almost anything else on the pop scene today. Have you heard any Ed Sheeran songs lately? You'll that call that rote BS "music", but not Kendrick Lamar's songs? Insanity.

Rapping is music. Don’t go comparing Kendrick with Mozart though. If you can’t objectively say the latter is more complex and soulful then we are done here.
Fixed that for ya. You bring up Kendrick not singing as if that disqualifies his music from being a song, but then bring up Mozart, which his music doesn't have singing, as some sort of defense that a song without singing is a song. Weird take. Btw, Kendrick has sung in several of his songs, but that's besides the point.

Darkthrone is trash. Have fun listening to people scream, I mean sing, in your ears. But hey, at least one of the two bands in your listening rotation is good. Kudos. Your last statement sounds like what white man that was born and raised in the suburbs would say. An interesting undertone you're using with that last line.

Anyone that adjusts quotes has already lost. I said his singing was one of the factors. I’ll repeat myself to you though and say that if you try and put Mozart and Kendrick on the same level then you disqualify yourself from this conversation.
Darkthrone is more talented than Kendrick. That’s a simple fact.
Also, your race baiting wont work here. Sorry that rhyming N**** with n**** doesn’t count as music.

You should check out Anthony Fantano, if you haven't already. Guy reviews several genres of music, including hip hop. Maybe you could listen to one of his reviews on one of Kendrick's albums. Lots of insightful stuff. Etta James and Chris Stapleton are great. The difference bw you and me is that I appreciate that sort of music AS WELL AS hip hop. And although I appreciate the former, I'm not delusional to think that that sort of music holds a candle to the complexities hip hop can offer. Don't get me wrong, I don't/can't always listen to hip hop such as Kendrick bc the music can be heavy, but to say any other genre is as lyrically complex, better storytelling, etc., is just a lie.

Idk what I lost, but damn, I must've missed the memo that adjusting quotes means you lose. What it is you lose, no one knows. Your strawman of me putting Mozart and Kendrick on the same level is going no where. Both are great for different reasons. And if you don't see how wording Kendrick "imma rap about the ghetto" Lamar has racial undertones, then maybe you're tone death? It could be a possibility, don't rule it out.

Lol I’ll bite. When he talks about jail time, shooting, and weed all in the song the OP posted, he ain’t talking about Beverly Hills. Another swing and a miss on the race baiting.
