She was, for a period of time, one of the best known female long distance runners in the US. Random people talking about your career comes with that territory, along with the Nike contract that was basically guaranteed when she graduated.

She has signs of just being burnt out, but not willing to make the changes needed to get back to her potential. She 100% has the potential to make the 2024 Olympic marathon team. I just wish I could be optimistic about that happening.

What was that race she did on the bike path freezing solo in Oregon a while ago? If someone, including her, is pushing for sub 1:13, I'd want to see her last 3 long tempo runs and likely fire her coach. I hope she just goes out and plays and has some fun, and prioritizes her health. And picks just a couple short sections to beat that Oregon bike path effort if it feels Like a great idea, but mainly ignore beating it, even if it feels like a great idea. And stay close to her current zones and have a decent tempo run but nothing at all to brag about. Nothing that feels like a good time. Just a bit of play related to healing and moving forward. For example , Genius Julian, why is she in a half marathon? Where were the last cruiser 10ks just testing fitness gradually?

I'm always surprised this doesn't come up earlier. I know she hasn't gone public about any health issues but by her appearance it is plainly obvious that she has some serious endocrine damage. One of my favorite runners of all time since she was in youth running.

Her last decent race was when she placed 3rd in Boston in 2019 in 2:25.

She clearly has eating issues. I think she notoriously bragged about eating 4000-5000 calories a day at one point, which is classic ED behavior. Her coaches also allow her to do all of these extra forms of exercise that appear super unnecessary.

All of those extra exercises are part of her disorder. She exercises for hours and hours daily, practically constantly. It's not doing her any good. Being at the very low body fat percentage she's at is not doing her any good either. The ironic thing is she's at the point where the harder she tries to be 'fit' and train how she thinks a professional runner should, the more hobbyist local runners beat her in races. Her approach is just way too extreme and counterproductive. Why her COACHES cannot see this and address this is a mystery.

I have at times worried she is too thin. I actually saw her twice today. for very short moments during my bike ride. She was doing likely a shake out run. She looked calm, happy, healthy, and strong. I would say it is absolutely not obvious that she is too thin. It was just a brief surprise. I said, "Hey that's Jordan Hasay and she's looking powerful. Right on."

that's really good news. Truly hope she's on the right track and that she has an encouraging race.

Happy to hear this. It’s been painfully clear just from following her on Instagram that something isn’t right, and hasn’t been for a while. glad she’s on the mend.

Jordan Hasay has looked unhealthy for about 5 years or so. She can’t be more than 100 lbs. I hope she regains form but nothing in the last 4 years suggests she will rip a fast race. My prediction: 1:19

She needs to eat more gain 5-10 pounds and she will be healthier. Less weight generally hurts distance runners, but you need to be healthy and food and a little extra weight will help the ones who take it to the extreme and look anorexic, as long as you don't go to the opposite extreme and gain too much, isn't it as simple as eating more food, anyways I wish her good luck, Yes I Think she looks TOO SKINNY.
