Affleck is divorced (just once though, not three times), and he IS an alcoholic, but really what happened the first time is he dodged a bullet. Now, he has jumped in front of another one.

They are both fools. He is the bigger fool. People in Affleck's situation have redeemed themselves. I have yet to see a thrice-divorced person who has.
