I have to imagine Gault lobbied hard against this article. I don't agree with MTF trans athletes competing against cis women, but this article is crass. It's not a joke. It makes me want to take off my letsrun shirt (the pride month shirt, ironically...)

Free speech is not just a legal concept that only applies where the law can enforce it on people. Free speech is a foundational principle that allows people with different ideas to coexist in a society. If we can not sort out our differences with words, then all that is left is the sword.
Free speech only works when the majority of the population hold free speech as a cultural value that we defend even when the laws say we don't have to. "I may disagree with what you say, but I will fight to the death for your right to say it". That's the code that Americans used to live by. That's the America I grew up in. We watched Nazis march through Jewish Skokie because that was the price of free speech, the price of freedom, and we were all proud that our culture could tolerate it.
You may be able to legally cancel me, but in doing so you have failed in your moral responsibility to uphold this country's founding principles. That responsibility falls on all of us at all times. You are unworthy to enjoy the freedoms that so many have sacrificed to give you. You deserve the fate that awaits you, the future that you helped create. You are bad Americans.... and that is the harshest insult in my rhetorical arsenal.

I don't support biological males competing in women's sport w/o severe restrictions and guidelines, and don't think Lia Thomas should be competing as a female, but I do support treating people with basic decency. Your obsession with promoting transphobia clearly shows that you don't.
