I really wish race coverage would show the runners up as they finish. Coverage ALWAYS wastes time showing the winners walking around, getting draped in their flag, kissing their spouse, wiping sweat with a Gatorade towel, protesting genocide, whatever. Would MUCH rather see the compelling races for third, even sixth, seventh, and tenth. Come on, do better.

They could at least do a pip view if they wanted to show both. Really annoying.
To be fair, I THOUGHT that's what Mekonen was doing, but if I wasn't really certain, I wouldn't say it if I was the announcer. Might not have offered "celebrating," but he's trying to fill otherwise empty airtime.
Mekonnen protesting genocide and announcer thinks he's celebrating. Geesh.
This was pretty great coverage--especially compared to most road races--but that announcer had a couple really embarrassing comments throughout the race
He was doing the Oromo arm gesture and refused the Ethiopian flag.
One huge error by the broadcast team. It was a course record since this course dates only from 2018 or so.
I was wondering about Ches getting the Kenyan flag too. If he's not racing for Kenya and is trying to become an American citizen, I'd think he'd ask the organizers to give him the American flag at the finish, or none.

The female commentator was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and on-point with her commentary. The make seemed to be there just for color commentary. Most of his inputs were benign, some kind of funny. But agreed that he really missed the ball on the comment about “celebrating.” Very obviously protesting against genocide in Ethiopia; a world crisis that’s largely being ignored in western media despite being on-going for years.

No biggie, just seems odd.
Ches did run the Kenyan Old Trials last year so seems like he is racing for Kenya (or at least trying)

I thought I heard during the broadcastthat he wasn't competing for Kenya or America (because he's trying to get citizenship) on the world stage and that's hurting him racing-wise.
