katelyn tuohy hiding an injury to be able to run is such a katelyn tuohy thing, although i hope she doesn't do it again because i think thats really dangerous but it worked out fairly for her and i guess that is why the coaching staff sidelined her and did not let her race december to february .. also, katelyn begging her coach to let her run 5000m even though she was not supposed to is an another katelyn tuohy thing ... if theres someone who loves running most, its her.. she loves it so much
What a douche question from the reporter. To paraphrase: "Are you surprised you haven't flamed out?" Why can't T&F get better commentators?
That was Rojo btw. I don’t think the question was that bad, but maybe he could’ve phrased it a little gentler. I don’t think she was that put off by it. I mean she literally came into college injured and had to have those sorts of thoughts going through her head last year. Great for her that she’s now an NCAA runner-up
I totally agree Tuohy is back! She showed me that with the way she closed out that last 400m at ACC’s. Her posture and form is getting back to what it looked like her sophomore year of HS and early JR year…. Which is when she looked and ran her best.
More importantly she has matured as a runner and person as her post ACC and Nationals interviews have shown. In HS she had no respect for other runners, had no humility, and was very abrasive and conceited. Now she is a different person and has obviously grown up. I really like this version of KT. I’m a fan!!!!!! I’m not and will never be an obnoxious fan, but I’m definitely a fan and pulling for her stay the person she is now,….very likable! She ran great against a very experienced racer! Nice work KT!!!!
Compared to what baseline? I’m presuming Tuohy raced in an Adidas spike with the carbon rods, special foam in the midsole etc. Maybe not as fast as the Dragonfly, but it’s a superspike.

I think you are being a little harsh branding her conceited. Maybe you think she was. I think she was just so much better than her opposition during most of hs it made any relationships difficult, and she was naturally shy as I recall her coach saying. But, by her senior year that was changing - you could see it at NXR/NXN and NY State championships. But, your opinion is your opinion.
Yeah, I never saw that. KT was always a team first runner. She ran the full team slate every year, sectionals, states, relays. And with NC State she essentially became friends with all the other top runners in her state and they all went to college together, starting with her and Kelsey (who btw just had another solid AA performance and ran another very good 5000 time). Otherwise nice to see the compliment.

doesn't surprise me. Posted earlier about this, the Brojos drive the obsession with high school girl burnout due to puberty, conveniently ignoring that so much of it also has to do with mental health, eating disorders, and external factors.

I swear to god, a girl breathes and she's "abrasive and conceited"
I mentioned that she came across as shy and reserved in high school. And I used the words CAME. ACROSS. Because I don't actually know her, and understood that she wasn't having a conversation with me individually when she spoke to the press, she was speaking to a bunch of adults with microphones shoved in her face.
Katelyn is not the only high school girl who comes across as "painfully" shy. It's actually really pervasive that many top high school girls appear to choose their words very carefully and appear altogether really uncomfortable in front of a camera or speaking to a large crowd. That doesn't happen as often with boys.
Sometimes I wonder why and then I see a crappy post like this. Girls are so easily judged. If they're bubbly, they are considered annoying. If they come across as proud of their accomplishments, they are conceited. If they show any competitiveness, they are arrogant, cold or mean. And if they are reserved, then they are aloof or "disrespect their competitors". There's just no winning when you're a girl.
Did Katelyn ever say anything in an interview that offended you? If so, point out where.
She was the best in HS and she didn't try to couch that fact in false modesty. Her older brother (also a runner) was matter-of-fact too. Just a family trait. I think it's fine.

Yes, it looked as if she wore the Avanti TYOs, which are definitely a super spike. There is nothing showing that Dragonflies are faster than those. Looks like Nur and Young wore them as well. Great spike.

i think you're over analyzing it. this might be the first person i have ever seen attack tuohy's personality.
This is typical Let’s run BS when it comes to Tuohy. I actually point out how impressed I am with her growth, performance, and how she has got herself back into her top form again and because I don’t think she is perfect I get near sighted comments? Typical ignorance!
I’m not going to waste my time pointing out the endless examples she did in HS that are on record in races and interviews. But here are a few. In interviews she was often disrespecting other runners by saying she had no competition, hardly ever congratulating her opponents after a race but just walking off the track, when she lost or ran bad she would just walk off the track and not acknowledge opponents and media, but would only be self centered on herself and her feelings. She was just very immature compared to the other elite athletes in her class. Her peers were way more respectful of the sport and each other compared to her (yet many of them were “shy” as well).
As I watched her races and interviews in HS it seemed to me (outside of her results) that she had a lot of character issues compared to her peers. She might have been the best in her class from a results standpoint, but not character.
However, the way she has conducted herself in college, and the last two interviews of hers have been downright impressive. As already stated, I really like the new KT and watching her growth as a person more than a runner. Me personally character in sports with elite athletes is more important than what they accomplish. It is how much judge all athletes I like in any sport. So, now Tuohy has won me as a fan and she did not even win this last race! And I’m a hater???? Whatever!

there are--and I can't overstate this-- NO examples of her doing any of these things. None.
Anyways here are some videos of her doing the total opposite of what you just said.

Fans are allowed. I can say Aaron Rodgers is conceited without you telling me I don't know him.
Guys, there’s something very different about not getting vaxxed for a deadly disease and misleading literally everyone and then claiming you’re a victim when it all comes out and…*checks notes* walking off a track after a high school race because your mouth is dry and you need water.

What a stupid comment. you’re not a victim here. You trash the personality of a then teenage girl you don’t even know because she doesn’t live up to your expectations of humility. Also a high school runner is not pro and is not obligated to “acknowledge the media”
This is complete BS what you wrote. Poniavoeia posted a few interviews after her National Record races. Tuohy sounded professional and incredibly honest and gracious in her interviews. Listen to the 3rd video posted by poniavoeia, she is the opposite of everything you wrote.

The TYO is over an ounce heavier than the dragonfly?
