International travel is stressful, time zone changes & sleep deprivation take something from your training, etc.
Hocker got some experience racing against (some of) America's best, and then could continue on with his plans without too much disruption. I might have done the same in his shoes.
Yeah, like even if each athlete ahead of him was in their own league, Hocker would be in the F league.
Even if that were the case, that would still make Hocker G League adjacent. Which is basically G League.
Given that the leagues go all the way to Z, G league actually doesn't sound too bad. Obviously it's not as good as the A league, or B, or C, or D, or E, or even F league, but it's still pretty high up there as far as leagues go.

According to that thinking, why not add a couple of world titles? Isn't that even more impressive?
Because one is 90% and the other is 5%.
Other good reasons have been presented here. This is not one of them. Even if he dropped the 3k, a couple hard 1500s can be part of your training plan. Train through worlds, grab a medal against weak competition. That isn't even 90%.
Why did Shelby Houlihan routinely double at indoor and outdoor national championships? Athletes quite often have national championship bonuses in their contracts. Double the championships, double the money. Not worth compromising outdoor preparation for a next to meaningless indoor championship in Eastern Europe.
You registered this name 6 months ago and posted nearly 2,400 times. 400 a month, 99% of them are drivel. Pretty sad
He is not al wrong though. Hocker will not go to worlds because he knows he wont win, might not medal.
I think he would have a good shot at a medal in either the 1500 or 3K. It is only Jakob and the Ethiopia that ran 7:26 that would say is out of his ledge. Also, success indoors has a lot of do with tactis and positioning and Cole would be the most experience. Pro athlete never say it but when they skip major events it is often about money and their prospects being competitive.
