He's talked about his end game before (maybe in a video or a podcast I forget). He knows he's probably not getting another "full" pro contract, but he loves the sports and wants to compete while he is young.
I agree with you though, the money situation is weird. From my understanding he does not have a job and is focusing full time on his training. Quite a luxury for someone his age post college and someone, somewhere, is financially helping him out (he makes around $100 per video on average).
I think Spencer knows that making a world/Olympic team is pretty out of scope, but Spencer is also the type of guy to think, "hey if I can just make it to the trials, all it takes is 3 good races to make a team". Will that actually happen, no of course not, but I do kinda admire his 'ignorance in bliss" mindset.
His family is loaded. He is from one of the wealthiest zip codes in the country.
Disagree with ”loaded”. They may be doing well, but they don’t seem pretentious at all. If they are loaded they’re not flaunting it.
If it was at BU, I’ll hold applause until outdoor 🤷♂️
I got majority downlikes for saying this and today there’s a huge article about the BU track and even grant fisher comes out and talks about this track 😂. We all know what BU is. Qualifying for Boston from a historically fast, mostly downhill marathon course, up in arms but BU somehow is different
I really like this guy and want him succeed. However , I get a mix of emotions when watching his videos. He has such a difficult time breaking 3:40 in the 1500. His workouts are still centered around 60 second laps. He’s trying to take it to the next level, yet still trains like he’s trying to break a 4 minute mile. I hope this dude gets his success soon, he can barley break3:40, trains slow, gets sick a lot , makes excuses all the time.

I used to be a big fan because I ran against him in high school, but I've lost all faith in him. I don't think he actually wants to be a successful runner. I think he's only running so he can keep profiting off of his youtube page and delay getting a real job.
It's sad, but he has no drive at all. He isn't training hard and in races he doesn't even look like he wants to be there.
Honestly I just don’t think he has the right training or maybe even talent. He had the speed, he ran a 49.1 400 off a standing start in high school. Yet he struggles to break 3:40 with rabbits. I see the passion and the hard work in him, but both his training is unimpressive. I’m wondering if he’s at his genetic ceiling or if he’s not man enough to just run something like 6 x 400s at 57-58 seconds with 1 minute rest. His workouts are just geared for a runner trying to crack 3:40.
The guy acts like he is in high school and arguably looks like he is still there as well (minus that ridiculous scraggly beard he was sporting for a bit), therefore, it is not surprising that his greatest athletic achievements might have come earlier in his career. If he wants to buck up, okay, maybe he can achieve some of his current aspirations, but he just looks so f&^%ing weedy. I mean can you really picture him at the trials, next to all the pros... with his pasty skin and toothpick arms? Maybe he'll unintelligently try to regrow his wannabe mullet in a failed attempt to 'blend in' there if by the grace of God he manages to run the standard.
He seems to have ankle issues when doing fast stuff so they stay away from doing too much of it. It doesnt take too much of that fast stuff to get in shape so I trust he'll get rolling by may.
His beard is absurd and I have no idea how his girlfriend doesn’t make him to shave/trim it off, it’s underdeveloped and I would rather look at wet food in the sink. As for “pasty skin”, it’s completely a result of genetics. Pasty skin doesn’t always tan like other peoples light skin. The Olympic bronze medalist in 1500m has pasty skin as well, as well as the Gold medalist.
I understand he has ankle issues but he runs stuff like 3x800, with first two In over 2 minutes and only last two was 1:55. How is that suppose to prepare him for a sub 3:40 1500m? That’s just a lazy workout, something like an even 3x800 in 1:58 or less will be far superior. You get what I’m saying? The ankle issue won’t be effected by something like that yet he chooses to do first 2 in 2:02 and acts like he’s on track to run 3:37 after that.
good for him to get to delay moving on to real life for quite a bit longer than most others are able to.
it is unfortunate for him that he is stuck to trying to break through 3:40 when there are probably a hundred people in the world capable of running 3:37 right now, at this moment, perhaps a couple hundred within striking distance; but i hope he holds onto his dreams for as long as possible.
