This just doesn't happen. I don't really care but I think most coaches would get sacked. The team isn't very good. A good way to get a new coach without buying out his contract.
I don't think so. If they wanted to get rid of him, yes, they'd fire him like Washington did with football coach Jimmy Lake after he shoved/punched a guy wearing a helmet.
But Howard is new on the job and an alum.
I think he'll just be suspended.
And I doubt anyone in the national media will point out that here we have a case of a black guy punching a white guy and not losing his job. If a white coach did this to a black coach, he'd be much more likely to be gone yet all we hear in this country is how bad it is for minorities in this country.
Why do you people have to always make it about race, huh? Just can't stop with the victim mentality, right?
By the time the media has 48 hours to frame the situation, Wisconsin will provide an apology and a bunch of coaches and players from both teams will have a suspension that will be over before we realize what happened. Wisconsin coaches will receive threats while Michigan coaches will receive support from entertainment industry.
Can't believe my reply saying the white person was the victim was deleted.
LetsRun is weak. Probably because they're not from the Southside of Chicago.
The stance taken for this thread is that the fight has nothing to do with race so making it about race is purposefully derailing the conversation. I think it makes sense to do so because every conversation about race on this site gets pretty bad pretty quickly.
So Mark Few gets a DUI and a 1 game suspension. Let's see what happens to Howard.
DUI far more dangerous than slap-fighting in the handshake line.
Don't get me wrong, this behavior is obviously wrong. But it's funny what we excuse and what we don't.
There’s a difference between on and off the court behavior. If Mark Few showed up drunk to the game and made a scene, he’d have been fired instantly.
Until a few years ago, off the court behavior was barely considered in sports. In general, for all jobs, conduct while on the job is judged more harshly than what you do off of it.
The timeout was a dick move by the Wisconsin coach and Howard was right to be angry about it but should not have thrown the punch. I would like to know what the coach said to Howard.
Howard put a full-court press on the backups, not the starters. The coach called a time out
to protect and instruct his players on how to deal with it. If Howard is going to play that at a few seconds left, why can't the other team? Sore loser, that is all that happened.
Anger is an emotion of children. Mature people do not get angry. He should have taken note and laughed it off. I would have smiled and shaken Gard's hand and told him that I wouldn't forget.
