b) -> Who knows how many tests he would have missed in the past if USADA weren't so overly lenient (they got scolded by CAS for that).

Is he "gaming" the system by following the rules? He served his penalty or do you want lifetime bans for first doping offense? BTW, that would likely not hold up in international court and probably not even in US court with how doping testing is conducted now at least.

I stopped "worshipping" athletes long ago, but I would say they contribute to society. They are entertainment. We need breaks from daily living. Some time just to experience joy (and even heartache KC Chief fans out there).

I respect their performance just as I respect a violinist's performance. I am guessing you don't see musicians and actors being contributors to society either.

So do you spend all your waking hours "contributing to society"? Of course you don't because you are posting on this site.

So how do you practically prevent it? A lifetime ban is never to pass a test in a court of law. European courts struck down the ability to ban athletes from the London Games. In order to ban someone for life (and here that means their professional window) for a first offense it probably needs to be egregious and you also had better have airtight protocols in place. One hint at a chain of custody issue or miscalibrated machine and that case is gone.

I agree an individual invitational has the right to do not invite someone. I don't think there is a legal thing Coleman could do. All invitationals could not collude to do it though. At the same time others mention doping violations in other sports, and such violations have not turned off very many fans.

Sounds like your beef is with USADA then. It's not really Millrose Games' job to enforce additional bans that USADA didn't.

Correct. My response was about him deserving a longer ban.

Millrose invited him because they thought they'd benefit from him racing. And that the latter is part of what's wrong with the sport.

Having the best athletes we have is what all sports need, get this out there.
