Just to be clear the study you posted an article about it not "real data", it is purely a modeling study based on the researchers assumed parameters and factors that impact infection. It is a purely speculative effort, one that speculates a difference between 0.09% and 0.027% without even clearly noting the variances in the numbers they arrived at. Most real studies with real data show the masks are fairly ineffective. The model in this study essentially corroborates the fact that masks make a negligible difference. They are also well known to cause developmental delays in children. Essentially, the Post article is being deceptive by hiding the fact that this is a modeling study and the differences are very miniscule if even differences at all.

So what if you get Covid? It’s a 99%+ survival rate.

Also, there are no controlled studies for face masks. Exposing people to Covid with one group wearing masks and another not wearing masks. That study does not exist.

We've already had periods of time where we didn't have to wear masks. The people who think they are never coming off have been proven wrong already.

This would exclude everyone under the age 10 for sure. This also excludes virtually everyone under the age of 136 outside of an ER setting for all practical purposes.

Most people touch their mask 950 times a day.

Most people reading this probably use the same mask every time they leave the house and store it in their car or pocket between uses.

Wait, what? That's exactly the point. Every time a period comes where the masks go, something arises that brings them right back. This has happened so many times now that we're either going to have to say 'enough is enough' or be in a perpetual state of masks coming back forever.

If your graph is accurate then Fauci and the CDC are responsible for the deaths of uncounted thousands of people for not insisting that N95 masks be worn and widely available from the beginning of the pandemic.

Tradespeople wear them all day, every day. It's only in the last year that all of a sudden we hear they're some burdensome face killer. It has nothing to do with enjoyment - nobody likes wearing masks - but it's not that hard.

The whole political nature to any opposition to vaccines and masks is criminal.

The far right goes after intellectually vulnerable people and we have this ongoing pandemic.

In my county and the neighboring counties 0% of hospitalizations are vaccinated. Yes- 0%/ I always thought that was impossible.

It's a very small sampling- about 400 K people. But we DO have over 80% of over 18 year olds vaccinated.

Get the vaccine, wear a mask and we'll get through this.

to get vaccinated and boosted, and wear a mask so the spread is reduced, the pressure is taken off the health care system, I've done my part to greatly reduce the chance of getting it right now, and if I do unknowingly have it, I'm greatly reducing the chance that someone else gets it from me, because if they're less fortunate and get very sick, the medical system right now is not equipped to deal with it.

None of those things are reducing the spread. Omicron is everywhere and everyone either has gotten it already (knowingly or not) or will get it. Prolonging the whole process only creates more time for more mutations to emerge that are evasive and problematic. Try accepting reality, do your best to stay healthy and move on.

Yes, you should wear a face mask if you are working in a capacity that exposes you to particles and chemicals that are actually very harmful. Covid is not on that list. Hope that helps.

But look, if you want to wear five n-95 masks at the same time underneath your hazmat suit while hiding and crying your house, then do it bro. Do what makes you and your boyfriend feel safe. It’s a free country.
