If we're going to include ultras, I have to mention John Geesler of St. Johnsville, NY. John holds either the 24 or 48 hour US record. I think he is in his mid to late 40's.
I am limiting it to the Marathon. No further!
I am also limiting it to the USA!
sorry........save that for other threads
Eric and John Tuttle know each other well and have raced a lot. Eric beat John several times last year to include Cotton Row. Certainly, John has run faster in the past but John is also two years younger than Eric Putnam and John admires Eric a lot. I've heard him say it.
Don't go by times if it's on the road unless they are racing head to head.

Call it the Lets.run honor roll for Master runners!
Calf:
Cece St.Gene
Wes Ashford
Rich Hanna
Hanna is good, but I don't think he's the best. As another poster pointed out Danny Martinez and others need to be considered.
Alan Webb. He's going bald, so I count that as the mark of being a master.
Ohio has Rick Wilson of Canfield who can still go under 32:00 for 10k. Terry McCluskey who is in his 50's ran 2:45 last year for the marathon.
Ohio women- Debbie Kilpatrick-Morris.
1:15-1:16 half
28:00 5-mile
17:00 5k
OLDIE BUT GOODIE
Doug Goodhue, 62, of Milford is no stranger to the marathon. But the addition of a half marathon this year brought him back. He mainly runs middle distance races and was ranked No. 1 in his age group by USA Track two years ago. "I thought it was great," Goodhue said of the half. "It's the first time I've ever been on the Ambassador Bridge. It was tougher than I thought it would be." He won his age group in 1:27:13.

OUR #1 RUNNER
USA MASTERS 10K RECORD HOLDER!
Paul Aufdemberge MI (40) Hillsdale, MI 4/9/05
10K 40-44 30:04.43
Walt Rider, early 50s, a triathalete in the Memphis area, regularly notches 5Ks in the 18:00-18:30 range. In smaller races he's often the Master's #1.....
Bill Hart was probably the best masters runner in the Hampton Roads area, not sure what happened to him though, haven't seen his name in results in forever.

I think in your MI list, the "Paul Oftenbery" is actually Paul Aufdemberge, misspelled...
In Arizona, I'm not sure who is the top masters male... for the women, it would be Susan Loken.
