I suggest that you apply to a few M.S. programs, get research experience, kick ass and then apply to top tier Ph.D. programs. During the M.S. you will either realize: 1. this is amazing, I love research or 2. this is OK/horrible but I can't imagine doing this for 4+ more years and then post-doc etc.
Getting an M.S. and then moving to industry, sales, management etc. is much better than dropping out of a Ph.D. program.

Assuming OP is bright enough to even think about tackling a PHD he could probably make more money shorting stocks at some hedge fund in NY or Puerto Rico. Can’t imagine these doctors trying to save someone choking in their own lung mucus and spouse is screaming about ivermectin or some sh!t. Total lunacy.

I thought this would be a post about not being able to party like a rock star in the dorms. That would be the real issue with the COVID restrictions on college campuses. Who cares about some research paper nobody will ever read? College is all about getting krunked with a bunch of coeds.

The area of interest is biomedicine (pharmacology). So yes, I'd indirectly be saving lives by understanding disease mechanisms, picking a drug target (usually an enzyme or some cell receptor), and then helping to move the drug through clinical trials.

We are in a pandemic and need to be flexible. I had to finish the last 3 semesters of my MBA completely remote. Not ideal but since a big part of being a successful professional is the ability to adapt in real time it actually helped a bit.

I assumed he was in the medical field and made a callous post saying why be a doctor when people like you clearly have a bias against medicine? Idk . My dad takes blood pressure medicine and as a result he hasn’t had a stroke yet? Coincidence!?
