I had a boss who was rude and gruff to everyone. Despite this handicap, he was marginally effective, as his analytical skills and attention to detail were off the charts.
Since for some reason I could psychologically slough off his crap, I was in a position to warn him that since his behaviors particularly irritated some women in our group, he would get tagged with harassment. He did.
One example. "My server at the restaurant at lunch could do better than you." Just foolish stuff.
He eventually was "retired." I am not so sure that in this day in age you can be rude like Alberto and survive in a management role. My boss certainly didn't.
What was odd about the boss here is when I look back at history he was probably the best at breaking the old boys club and hiring talented females-he authored several firsts for women in several positions in the company. He had a very smart daughter and I think he empathized with her.
With boorish behavior, there seem to be new risks on the work horizon. Never did like Alberto's character, but sexual misconduct seems to be the wrong term here.

It's pretty clear that race/ethnicity played a role here. Would he have been punished like this if he was white? Would he even have been accused?
I’m in no way an Alberto apologist and obviously know a lot of the accusations and problems during his coaching. We know the “gray areas” and secret books to transport banned substances. The testosterone and l-carnitine stories. We know the weight stuff and emotional abuse situation with Cain. But did I miss sexual misconduct previously? Or is this really the first we’re hearing it?
Again, not saying it didn’t happen or excusing it if it did. I just don’t know that I’d heard that previously.

Of course Salazar's race and relative lack of wealth played an enormous part SafeSport sticking him to a cross. Compare this to Bill Gates and his pedophilia with Epstein and nothing happens to Gates because he is untouchable. He'd be considered white in virtually any other country but the US is a bit weird when it comes to race.
