No
Except it is. Unless you didn't look at the list, which you quoted in your post.
Should be warm. Interested to see if the African crew performs better than in Terre Haute or Wisconsin.

Except those are not their 5k PRs!

It's criminal that only one post has mentioned Drew Bosley so far. Conference champ. Has gotten much better each race. Was NAU's top man as a freshman back in 2019.
“Criminal” 🙄
It's a deep cut Letsrun meme from several years ago. There was a thread about a team being "criminally underrated" for NCAA cross country. I can't remember which team.

I’m sorry man but I’ve been on these boards every day for the last 10-15 years and there’s no way that qualifies as a “Letsrun meme.”
It almost seems like you made that up to (unnecessarily) defend your use of the word “criminal,” to be honest.
I think there's tons of randomness at play and you're all rating Kiyoko too high. The way to do this is to have rankings based on results and then mix it up bc things don't go as planned. Also, I don't think Nico Young is as consistent as he thinks.
I try to be steady throughout the season and will probably have Arkansas in the top 4 still.
I'd say 1. Kiptoo 2. Teare 3. Mantz 4. Wildschuut 5. Gilbert Boit 6. Charlie Hicks 7. Nur 8. Nico Young 9. Isai Rodriguez 10. Morgan Beadlescomb
I wonder where Cole Hocker would rank if he was still in the NCAA. Higher or lower than Cooper Teare?
Manta Will not win. He’s a mayonnaise try-hard PRP wannabe

Teare is better than Hocker at the longer distances. Hocker is a great talent but would probably be between places 15-20, perhaps higher, in the NCAA XC finals. He definitely would not be top 10.

This is a solid list. I will go 1. Kiptoo, 2. Mantz, 3. Wildschuut 4. Teare. After that I think it's tough. I do think NAU will have their 3 guys between 5-15.

I don't know, Dani Jones is a miler on the women's side and won XC in 2018 (?) I believe. Really depends on the strategy and weather I'd imagine. Didn't Hocker beat Teare in a 5k?
I think Hocker would have a good shot at beating Teare. He was a great XC runner in HS, much better than Teare. In 2019, Hocker's freshman year at Oregon, with Teare as a junior, Hocker wasn't too far off Teare for most of the year.
Dellinger -- Teare 23:34 to Hocker 23:42 (+8)
Nuttycombe -- Teare 23:52 to Hocker 24:24 (+32)
Pac-12s -- Teare 23:06 to Hocker 23:32 (+26)
NCAAs -- Teare 30:49 to Hocker 31:40 (+51)
Hocker made an enormous jump in 2020 and 2021 -- I think given his improvement across the board, from 800 on up to 5000, Hocker would've been right with or even ahead of Teare this year with 2 more years of collegiate training under his belt.

Please explain why you expect Gilbert Boit to be top 5, but Kioko not top 10.

Seriously makes me wonder if you have ever been in a foot race.
Yes, I have, and the best runners win. If Hicks is running with Mantz and Mantz throws in a hard surge, how is homefield advantage going to help him? Is there a home track advantage as well?
Um, what? Of course knowing the course matters. Teams don't jog the course before the race to waste time. Coaches don't talk about strategy on a course for no reason. Knowing a course thoroughly is better yet. Many runners are very close in fitness and then it matters more. This idea you're floating that fitness is the only factor (probably the most important but that is not the point) is naive. That is why others have asked if you've ever raced. It does not sound like it.
1. Young
2. Mantz
3. Nur
4. Kiptoo
5. Wildschutt
A dogfight indeed, but Wildschutt looked so smooth & relaxed when he basically tempoed an ACC title last month, difficult to imagine Mantz or Kiptoo breaking him this week. Brought to mind that old line about Viren in ‘72, “…there’s been a certainty about his running in the past six weeks…”

Can you give me more details? NCAA XC championships are always run at a fast pace with a leading pack. In my simple world, the goal for the best runners is to be near the front. Given that Hicks has raced at that park before, he'll have a strategy other than just trying to keep up?
In HS, I both won and lost on our home course and it seemed to have a lot do with how good the other runners were.

*claps* Congratulations. On a message board which reeks of garbage takes, this just might be the garbage-est take of them all.
