I went shopping in New York at Oscar de la renta with two women. They bought 4 dresses (I told them 4 items total was their limit) that i paid for and it came to 18k after taxes. Those two women keep calling me and texting me but that was the last day I'll ever spend (pun intended) with them. I told myself after that day, perhaps it would be cheaper to get myself a wife. This is also my experience. Some people like splurging on clothes and some people does not care; it does not have much to do with wealth. The couple billionaires I know wear shorts, T-shirt and sneakers most of the time.
Personally, I just buy random stuff that is comfortable when the clothes I wear fall in pieces and my wife throws them in the garbage.
If by "wealthy people" you mean the upper class and not sports or entertainment figures who are wealthy, my perception has been shaped by a person's answer quoted in a New York Times Magazine article (from a couple of decades ago) on the upper class: "We don't buy clothes, we have them."

Depends on what you mean by wealthy. My brother is a medical specialist in the midwest and makes around 600k a year. Most of his clothes come from Walmart, Costco, and Kohl's. On the other hand, we come from a relatively not so well off family, and are used to living cheap (he drives a 9 year old Nissan Versa and lives in a 800$ a month apartment).
Another thing i heard about wealthy people and buying clothes is that what characterizes them when shopping is that they make decisions on buying something quicker than most.
I guess the inference is they don't have to deliberate when it comes to price or being selective.
And they are more likely to buy several of the same thing but in different colors, for example, to match just right with any given outfit.

They generally wear non flashy clothing, and clothing that is actually fairly old, but VERY VERY high quality.
I'm talking 2000 dollar custom made dress shoes that they have resoled 5 times since 1998.
An old cashmere wool overcoat that may or may not have been passed down from some family member.
A blazer that is getting up there in age but was custom fitted to the last cm of the wearers body.
Expensive custom fitted dress shirts, sweaters, polos and pants that have no brand names and do not "look" expensive to the average middle class striver, but looks unmistakenably custom made to someone "in the know".

A custom tailor near my office. They make sure I have a good mix of clothing for work and social events and wife does the rest. I sometimes swing by and see if they have something that interests me.

This is the best answer. Obviously, nobody cares what clothes petit bourgeoisie doctors and lawyers making low to mid 6 figures with zero fashion sense, shopping at Kohl's or Marshall's or whatever are wearing
Nobody wants to know that, lol.
A very small number of billionaires carefully managing their image like Warren Buffett may dress cheaply. Other techie rich people that are incredibly autistic might dress like Mark Zuckerberg or whatever.
But all in all, TRULY wealthy people dress more or less as this guy I quoted described. Very high quality, very good fit, non-ostentatious, and NO visible branding.

A friend of my Dad's owned several apt buildings in the Seattle area back in the 50's through the 80's. As he was getting older he began selling some of them off. He was fairly wealthy. House was large but not extravagant overlooking Puget Sound in North Seattle. How did he dress? Looked like a plumber most of the time. Overall, flannel shirt. Repaired a lot of stuff at the apts himself. Drove a 25 year old pickup truck most of the time. I might mention that he grew up during the Great Depression of the 1930's so he learned something about saving not just money but everything else too. After WW2 ended, in which he served, he settled in the Seattle area.
