Light in August is a Great American (formally conventional) Novel.

Your ego is showing. Just being courteous in the work place does not mean she is into you. But if you think she is then ask her out. The problem is right now you can delude yourself into thinking she is into you but asking her out could dispel that fantasy.

Getting to know each other at work is a good way to let a relationship slowly develop until you’re ready to ask her out. Not everyone is the “pick up at a bar” type of bro.
