You keep repeting that Kiplimo has tougher competitors than Jakob I. Well, Jakob beat Cheptegei on 5000 this year.

He ran 12.48 but could proberbly run under 12.40 and 3.28 already this year, if that whats needed to win. He now has both the endurance to keep up with anybody, AND the finish to scare everybody last 200.

In the 3000 Kiplimo won, Jakob said he took the lead last 2 rounds because he wanted a fast time. If he wanted the win he would not run like he did, letting Kiplimo sprint past him last 100.

You think youre talking to someone who doesnt watch track or something? We all know Cheptegei had a bad start to his season. He thankfully managed to get it together in time. Anyway, beating him in that race means about as much as beating Kipchoge in the London Marathon.

And LMAO Yakob cannot run under 12:40 right now. That is a huge stretch. Theres a stronger argument for Kiplimo being able to run 12:37 than what youre saying as Kiplimos best performance (half marathon) is equivalent to a 12:37 5k.

However Im not going to sit here and argue that either Kiplimo or Yakob can run under 12:40. Id definitely bet against them being able to PR by 9 minutes.

Lol. Dream on little man. Kiplimo not worthy to hold Jakobs towel. Wake me up when kiplimo or cheptegei beat Jakob in 5000. They're both certainly a world away in the 1500. As a matter of fact a certain 20 year old American can trounce them easily in that event. By about half a straightaway.

You can protest all you want. The fact is Jakob I. has not run a 5000 where the goal was a fast time only, this season or in 2020. With his endurance it is extremely difficult to shake him loose if he is right behind you. Just ask McSweyn.

Of course this is just speculations, but with the progress he has made, i seriously think he could do 12.40. And yes, I think Kiplimo would do the same.

Jakob I. has never run a half marathon, but has said himself thats maybe where he will be best in the end. We will see....

At this point im a lot more excited to see Yakob transition to long distance and the roads than I am to see him run more 1500s.

I want to see what his supposedly maxed out endurance looks like when hes actually time trialing.

You guys keep bringing up the gold medal. But again, Yakob didnt have to beat an El Gorrouj, Komen,, or Lagat to win that gold medal. Funny thing is, Jakob beat Cheptegei and obliterated the field not long before the Olympic in the 5000m which isn't even his main event.

The premier distance event is the 1500 and Ingebrigtsen won it. If it was less competitive than the 5000, it was because some of the best runners believed they had no chance of beating him. They made the same decision as Aouita did in 1984.
