Devastating speed at the end yet so smooth. I was expected some el G guitar playing.
Everything people kept saying about him here have been proven wrong.
He has no kick.
He would never beat Tim.
He peaked at 16. he peaked at 17, he peaked at 18. he peaked at 19....
He will never get near El G's records.
He is still only 20 and still getting better.
He's almost certain to break El G's records next year, barring injuries. And he could be a treble 1500 Olympic champion. He will only be 31 in 2032.
Quadruplet. But in 2036 he will be just 35, so a quintuplet should be possible.

jakob and karstens doping is so bleedingly obvious.jakob runs 3.28,cool as you like, and isnt even tired! Its crap, and i dont buy it.
Nothing has really changed. The experts couldnt believe what they witnessed when Jakob was 11 either:

Hahah, Kenya's days are numbered. All your champions are aging, little or no talent coming through. Probably at least one or two of your gold medalists here will get busted in the next few years.
The pandemic and no testing for a year gave you a boost, without that Kenya would not have won a single gold.
Can you imagine how inspiring this will be for non-African kids to get into middle-distance? Not to mention Kerr's bronze for young British kids.
The myth of East African genetic superiority has finally been laid to waste by a Norwegian kid. I predicted it 4 or 5 years ago, and today it happend.
I was thinking the same thing. Also- Britain had 3 finalists. There were Europeans (not people who moved in) in the final.
Hopefully this jump starts European kids to get moving.
what like 2 dudes maybe ? 90 percent of the media and running world already knew it was a matter of time
Why does every great performance lead to people claiming this is the greatest of all time. Jakob is a legend but not the GOAT. Start with best of this era before calling him the GOAT.
Can we have one thread on this website that doesn't turn into a bunch of grown men arguing like babies? Every thread gets high jacked over doping or ethnicity. No wonder no one gives a crap about our sport. Fanbase is unbearable.
It was a brilliant run and a deserved victory with the way he ran it. But, regrettably, no performance - however convincing - can be taken at face value in this day and age. Doping is too easily achieved and concealed. The least that can be said is that if he was doping he was the best of them, because others undoubtedly would be doping also.
11 of the 13 finalists in this race were non-African. Will this be the start of a new trend?
Tell me Orcas, why does Athing Mu's performance get a pass but Ingebrigtsen's is "suspicious"?
Hes been full on doping since 16,and probably grey area doping before that.I wouldnt trust his father as far as i could kick him.The fact that he ran faster (allegedly clean)than known and obvious dopers, and that he didnt look tired after his race tells me all i need to know.He looked like he was out for a casual jog! Of course, when he runs 3.24,and a 5000 in 12.30, youll still be saying hes clean, and most of the rest of us will know he isnt.

I'm somewhat suspicious of Mu but the mods simply delete my posts.
I am,too.19 year old girls cant run 1.55.
I am just aghast at those who think that the Norwegians are certainly clean but other champs are certainly not. Quite reasonable to say that doping is widespread and so if someone wins a race (beating many dopers), then they are probably doping too. Quite reasonable to say that when someone has a historically fast performance and looks easy doing it, then they are probably doping. THAT IS THE LOGIC APPLIED TO ALL THE NON-NORWEGIANS.
Now, it is also quite reasonable to be hopeful that champs are clean and to enjoy the sport and therefore give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Innocent until proven guilty. After all, the logic above means there is no reason to watch the sport.
But, for some, when the precious Norwegians win, it is all about their impeccable national character and doping regime. And it is also a time to celebrate those awful Africans losing. Not hard to connect the dots. We have seen this movie before. "The best lack all conviction, while the worst are full of passionate intensity."
Be suspicious of both Mu and the Norwegian, fine. That is reasonable.
That said, Mu does fit into the Michael Phelps/Usain Bolt category of an obvious natural height/physical advantage.
Also, since the whole point of this thread seems to be to throw around national stereotypes, the US has a long history of greatness in track and field. Kenya and Ethiopia and GB too. The countries to be skeptical of are those that randomly produce a few great performances out of nowhere. China in the 1990s. Norway now. US cycling in the 2000s.
Area doping the reason for his immense endurance at the age of 11...
Full of doping when he was 16, achieving highly impressive results years before. Shouldnt massive doses of dope have created a sudden leap? Likewise, Jakob has a steady progression each and every year.
Once again hysterical how so many refuse to look upon McLaughlin as a possible doper. She was a star in young age after all. When the athlete is from Norway the logic suddenly makes a u-turn. Strange, or what?
You’re wrong. He has been doping since he was in the womb, as Tone was injecting steroids into her body, and EPO early on circulating his veins as well. As a kindergartener he went to special ward where Norwegians babies with athletic abilities are fed roids and brainwashed to believe this is all ok. Trust me. What I am telling you is all correct, as correct as the fairytale you are cooking up in your strange mind.
No surprise here. Jacob has been the best ever at every age along the way. He is obscenely gifted. No one out there now compares at 1500 thru 5000. Will not be 21 until mid September. Hard to imagine. 3:28, 4:50, 7:27, and 12:48 by age 20 ? Spectacular.
Not much room to improve, but he will most likely get a bit faster at each distance. Bad news for the rest of the world.
Be suspicious of everyone, fine.
That said, McLaughlin's dad ran the 400 in the Olympics. And the US has a great history of developing track and field athletes. If McLaughlin and other Americans were dominating XC skiing, then I would be suspicious.
Bottom line: if you think McLaughlin or Hissan might be doping, then you have to think that the Norwegian might be doping. If you are certain the Norwegians are clean, then you have obvious biases.
And, let's just say it: the Norwegians' performances are in Hissan/Dibaba/Armstrong/Burrito girl/Marion Jones/Cierpinski/East German sprinters/Ma's army eyebrow raising territory.

Its true with Warholm atleast. Doesnt have asthma and obviously no medicine either. Doping and thransparency doesnt go well together. The Norwegian use of asthma medicine is all in the open. And there are rules to be followed with real consequences (hello Sundby) if broken.
And British cyclists.
