yes
Cocaine's a hell of a drug!
if i wasnt clear before i dont think he was using coke as a PED i'm just "rules are rulesing" here
What kind of test did he get? If it's really a one time thing then a guy this lean should piss clean for cocaine within 24 hours

This is just another chapter in a season of crazy stories.
What could possibly be behind this? Options - I have no opinion on what could be the legitimate one.
1) He's just a simple "Jack the Lad" who got excited after making the British team and did a line with his mates?
2) He used a small amount deliberately to "get himself going"? (mental? heart pumping?) I don't know?
3) He used it in an attempt to mask something else he was doing (unlikely but maybe out of desperation???)
Just can't think of what else it could be?
Where is the evidence that coke or ween can mask use of a PED?
Does not seem logical

A shocking number of people asserting that a stimulant drug is definitively not a PED for 800m.
Not as shocking as people who think coke use makes a world class 800 meter runner a faster runner.

I don't recall any poster asking for him to be banned for life, Coevett.
You have been such a rigorous defender of clean track and field, and now you want to excuse a positive test?
Cocaine poses a serious risk for an athlete's life. I hope Oliver gets a short suspension, like Sha'Carri did, and uses this situation to improve his life = stop doing drugs.
And for people saying cocaine is not so bad, you are completely out of touch with reality.
Never trust a ginger they will break your heart every time
This is why I do heroin.

Lol, Billy Konchellah convicted of drugging and raping minors in Finland. This has no bearing on whether or not he took drugs as an athlete. Anyone who says otherwise is a racist.
Sha'Carri Richardson takes weed, this has not PED effects and it says nothing about whether she would take peds. Anyone who says otherwise is racist.
Kip Keino arrested for embezzling millions of dollars. Gets away with it after intervention from Kenyan parliament. The case says nothing as to whether he was willing to cheat in his athletics career. Anyone who says otherwise is a racist.
Sydnee Maree goes to prison for fraud. This says nothing as to whether he was willing to cheat in his athletics career. Anyone who says otherwise is a racist.
Daniel Komen is arrested for multiple counts of financial fraud. This says nothing about whether his 7:20 was doped. Anyone who says otherwise is a racist.
Said Aouita tells multiple athletes to take PEDs, lies on his application about coaching El G, has a doctor who was arrested for supplying athletes with EPO. This says nothing about whether or not he doped in his career. Anyone who says otherwise is a racist.
20 year old British kid is found with minute traces of cocaine that could have come from kissing a girl who had taken some or from smoking contaminated weed. Dirty doper who needs to be banned for life. Anyone who says otherwise is probably Coevett.
You are one of the very few pure doping apologists on this board Coevett. And the biggest hypocrite.

Cocaine is an actually dangerous substance unlike Richardson's marijuana use. This is troubling unless he has trace amounts because it showed up in a milder street drug inadvertently. That would still be bad, but at least it would be better than a 20-year-old with a coke habit.
Sorry, man, but that's such a boomer view on drugs. Cocaine is no more dangerous than weed. Tbh, I've never known anyone have any issues taking cocaine (other than heightening how annoying they are) but I do know someone who suffers from cannabis-induced psychosis and has had to be institutionalized. So, you know, don't tell me weed is harmless. They're both recreational drugs, they both deserve a ban
"Cocaine is no more dangerous than weed." I've tremendously under-estimated the dangers of weed, which I dislike strongly, then. But I've seen many people attending a cocaine-addiction group at my church trying desperately to break their often deadly addiction.
A decade ago, when I was an undergrad, it seemed that every other kid who went on nights out regularly would dabble with coke. It blew many an innocent little mind - including my own - but by second year kids were banging lines at pre-drinks / house parties without a care in the world. I don’t know of anyone who developed an addiction - or even did it all that regularly - but I knew of countless lads who basically became potheads. You’d see them walking around with massive bags under their eyes, and it seemed to slowly change their personalities.

I didn't say that, just countering the doping apologists who are trying to claim that we are excusing him because he's white.
Unless he can prove he didn't ingest it intentionally, he should receive a suspension, unfortunately for him and British athletics.
However, I don't believe cocaine is a PED or he took it to improve his performance. But he should be suspended as a punishment for stupidity and to save his long-term career. He doesn't want to end up like coke head Connor McGregor.
I can't begin to understand why 20 year olds takes a drug like cocaine to get a buzz, let alone a 20 year old with the world at his feet like him.
Oh well, hopefully Max Burgin is back soon.

I was told as a coach that it would help in the pole vault and think some of the guys on a team I coached once did it (I was the assistant in another event group). Could it help with running?

You raise an interesting point. USADA has been letting women off as they could have gotten the small amount via sexual intercourse. Regardless, I think he's likely screwed for Tokyo.
Cocaine has been riffe within the TDF for many years......I believe there is some benefit. Maybe dropping a line 15 minutes before a race. Look at Maradona - untouchable when dosed up.
