USATF does horrible job of supporting field athletes in general and most have to work other jobs to even stay in the sport and pay for travel to meets, massages, etc.
Does the NFL pay the athletes? NBA pay its athletes? MLB? No... the CLUBS/TEAMS do, and the sponsors.
This sport is full of idiots who love to scream at the top of their lungs, only to be proven a fool.
Actually in the NFL a portion of the money made by the league is evenly divided across each team, and that money is divided amongst the players and coaches, but about 200 million is specificaly for the players. I believe the nba works similarly, but the MLB works differently.
The NFL makes alot off of corporate sponsors, merchandise and ticket sales/TV deals, so the players actually make much more off salary than endorsements. The popular NBA players have large salaries too but sometimes make even more off individual endorsements depending on marketability.
